Now if only Motor Trend was in fact written by a plethora of busty beauties we'd be set!
-
Who makes that carpet kit?
Thanks in advance, Good luck!
-
great deal for someone! Where was this a month ago?!? argh!
-
I'm not sure, i just bought it not long ago and am new to carbs. Please let me know where to look.

So the other day My car stopped idling. I would come up to the stoplight the it would just die. To keep the motor going I would feather the gas while stationary, it was pretty rough but running. After two days of that it has now decided to run great! idle...no problem. Almost drives smoother than before! this is the stock single barrel on an early '71. What might have happened?

Thanks guys, unfortunately there was bolt/nut that would not come apart on the drive shaft/guibo. I was able to shimmy around it and replace the shifter plate.
Once I have a bit more time I'll replace guibo (as a safety precaution) and shifter bushings.
????how do I get the bolts back in!!?? they wont just slide in and everything seems a mess. I have the guibo clamped down but they still don't line up!
-
wonderful pictures! It's not every day you get to see a Bandini! Any details on that particular car?
-
Replacing my shifter plate, and tring to drop the driveshaft (never done it before)
just unbolted the four nuts attaching the flange to the guibo, what steps do I need to take to drop it from there, do I need to remove the guibo as well?
thank you in advance, this is a liberating feeling working on my own car.
-
glad you could use the picture too! haha.
my car is an early '71 who's shifter was not yet part of the center consul, perhaps it was one of the changes for the late '71+ cars.
Good luck finding the surround!
-
wow! you guys are awesome! I'm already in your debt.
So I am getting a used shifter plate to just put in until new parts arrive.
-
email sent!
Thank you very much for that diagram, doesn't look too intimidating that way.

i'm sure this will be the first of many questions I have for you 02 gurus. I am mechanically inclined but not very experienced..yet ( this car is meant to change that )
A couple of days ago my shifting started to feel very sloppy and not sound quite right, yesterday I lost the ability to go into third gear, and today I lost first. Upon taking off the rubber boot and removing the rotten foam this is what I found.
Just busted clean!
I do not know what part that is or how to replace it. Any help would be great as I need to fix it as soon as possible, it's my DD. ( my repair manual is on it's way but wont be here for a number of days )

I'm up in Monrovia at the moment but will be moving into Pasadena soon. Thanks for the pump advice, turning it upside down at the Arco stations seems to work the best.
-
take it to Pacific Motorsports in Portland and have Terry look it over. I just bought one in Seattle and stopped off in Portland to have him do a thorough once over before driving it to Los Angeles.
-
If that wheel hub adapter is for a NARDI wheel I'll take it.
Also if the roundels do not sell to the first two in line I'll take them as well.
-
I'll try emailing him Directly then and see what turns up, thanks

Looking for a set of the Rota RB's (15x7) in royal silver w/ the 25mm offset, etc, for my 2002. Will pick up if in Los Angeles. Thanks!

Great story so far!
As for the gas fillers, some folks have had luck turning the handle almost upside down, while others have bought a "McCuff" and had good luck. Some have even ditched the filler cap on the outside, turned the rubber bit around and fill it inside the trunk.
Thank you very much for the tips!

-I noticed you edited this thread, but will try anyways as it appears you're the guy to talk to.
If you could email me at a n d r e w a d a m s 7 7 7 @gmail.com (condensed of course). I'm trying to find some RB's with the royal silver finish for my 02.

it all began with a crash, a rude abrupt welcome to california after a 2 week drive from Portland. There i was at the side of the road in central LA (did NOT no my way around yet) with a crashed car filled with all my belongings and quite literally no place to go. The very nice guy who ran into me did not have a driver's license and could not speak English. It was like something only Dante could describe. but hey, I had dealt with more difficult situations, and the only way to go was up.
After borrowing a room from a friend of the family, I found that my car was a total loss. I began trying to make some lemonade from all the lemons dumped into my lap. Here was my chance to have another "fun" car, my criteria was simple; it had to be euro, classic, good design, easy to work on, and fairly inexpensive (to start). There was only one answer, a bmw 2002. The search for an early roundie (the purest design) naturally led me here to FAQ. In the classifieds there was a link to a craigslist add. The add was enticingly brief, and I emailed at once. Details about her soon began to emerge over late night emails; 120k, original elderly owners towed it behind their motor home, still had original folding key, etc. riding a wave of excitement I bought a one way ticket to........seattle. Meeting her for the first time I was instantly smitten, she was even more beautiful in person! One quick trip to the bank and she was all mine. In celebration of the beginning of our relationship we traveled down the coast. Together we wound through country roads, flirted with imposing cliffs and admired sunsets over the ocean. California took a new form, one of friendly locals, fresh fruit, curious wildlife, and endless ribbons of asphalt. My spirits are high and am looking forward to a brighter future with the company of my motoring companion, a 1971 roundie named Hetty Green.
the pickup in Seattle
Stopped in Portland at Pacific Motorsports to have Terry give the car a thorough once-over. Great guy, bottomless '02 knowledge.
one day....
not too far from mount shasta
on highway one
picked up this friendly looking guy, apparently he designed the f22 raptor, proved Einstein wrong, knows how to safely transport hydrogen, and is the smartest guy in the world. I dropped him off at a gas station in san luis obispo, so if your in the area and need a consultant....
kicken' it in Malibu while adding up the bug kill count on the grill.
even the surfers thought it was a "righteous ride"

a BIG of questions for 02 owners in California. how do you fill your tank at the gas station without spilling?! the rubber hose "cuff" on the handle defeats me every time!
