  1. I'm clearing out some of my spare parts on Ebay. Currently up for auction BMW 2002 Gold Portfolio book BMW '02 Restoration Guide book Distributor plug from 02again.com Sensor mount from 02again.com Complete EDIS setup Location: Chino, CA, USA
  2. Towards the beginning of the film in the Radiator Springs Restaurant scene, there is a tan colored 02 clearly visible in the background.
  3. After 2 years of '02 ownership, I finally replaced the old, hard and slightly cracking tires that came with the car with a new set of rubber. As many have come to find out, getting a new set of 205/60-13 tires that aren't a Toyo racing tire is becoming close to impossible. So I chose the next best size, 185/70-13. While they are a little thinner in the tread area I think they still look quite good and ride very well. So far I am very happy with the change.
  4. Well I am pleased to say that the leak has been repaired. Luckily I had a spare gasket and a new bottle of RTV to form a nice tight seal. I look forward to driving my car again.
  5. I'm going to take everything apart and re-seal the pump this weekend. Hopefully that fixes the problem.
  6. I was out driving this weekend and I noticed what I thought was a leak around the water pump gasket. The leak was a near constant drip coming from the bottom of the pump area. So today I decided to replace the gasket and put on a new pump as well. I reassembled the hoses and accessories. I then went to fill the radiator with coolant to test the system and; now it is leaking worse than before. Am I missing something here or is there something wrong with my motor? Has anybody else had this issue before?
  7. I hooked my electric choke up to one of the + prongs on my coil. Seems to work well.
  8. Thanks everybody for the advice. I know what my project will be this weekend.
  9. So I went to drive my car this morning and I discovered my half tank of gas had turned into a full tank! Or at least that is what my fuel gauge told me. Now I don't think I have ever owned an old car that didn't have a fuel gauge problem, however I was wondering if anybody else has had their gauge get stuck on full? Bad ground perhaps. I checked the on by the tank and it looks fine. It looks like the sending unit is relatively new also. Any suggestions?
  10. They are at the base of the carb, one on each side. They are the screws that should also have a spring along their length in order to hold the adjustment.
  11. I'm not quite sure of the make of the fuel pump, but it's a low pressure external unit feeding a Weber 38 carb.
  12. I finally found the culprit to my fuel starvation/stumbling problem. I had been experiencing a loss of power after accelerating and a subsequent surging motion as the carb struggled to find fuel. I am running an electric fuel pump (which is working correctly) and a newer gas tank, so I figured pressure and debris was not problem. My problem landed up being a faulty fuel pressure regulator that was giving my carb enough gas to idle and accelerate, but not enough to refill the bowl quickly. After I removed the regulator the car ran good enough to drive it down to my local AAA to finally finish the registration. I am very glad that problem is solved.
  13. I'll be there, whether its in the '02 or the wife's e90. I still have timing issues to work out.
  14. Complete Weber DCOE 45 setup. I recently rebuilt the carbs and were working when I took them off. These are the Italian version with the metal floats. I also have Ramflo filters and a single piece Warnerford intake manifold. The carbs have linkage for a cable throttle setup. $450 shipped or $400 if you want to pickup in Chino,Ca.
  15. Hey does anybody happen to know the size of the bolt for the crank shaft pulley?
  16. I am looking for a reasonably priced and reputable tuning shop in the Chino area. I need the timing and carb adjusted on my '02 so I can finally start driving it! The closer to my home in Chino the better, since it will have to be towed. Any suggestions are much appreciated.
  17. I have a complete setup with a single piece Warnerford manifold. Both of the Weber's are the more vintage metal float style. I also have a complete linkage setup. If you are interested I can send you some pics tomorrow.
  18. Thanks the photos help greatly. I pulled the plug and felt for the compression stroke to find TDC. I then noticed that the notch on the distributor matched up with the rotor. I will try to start it again after I figure out why my new battery suddenly won't hold a charge. The joys of old cars!
  19. So I spent the better part of the day trying to time my carbed motor. Ultimately I completely discharged the battery before I was able to get it running for more than about 30 seconds at a time. My question is when piston 1 is at the top of its stroke should the TDC marks on the pulley be lined up with the marker on the block? It seems on my engine the marks are on not lining up when piston 1 is up.
  20. I am interested, please post some pics. I also have a complete dual weber 45 set up if you are interested in a trade/partial trade.
  21. I am proud to announce that I just took my '02 for its maiden voyage. I took her around the block without even breaking down! I think that's a first for me. Anyways, it drove pretty well, but I noticed what seems like a fuel starvation problem after driving at a continuous speed. I think the twin 45's might sucking more gas than the pump can put in. Of course it could also be a tuning issue.
  22. Thanks for the input. I will mess with it some more. The sooner I find reverse, the sooner I can back it out of my driveway and take a test drive.
  23. My '02 has a five speed conversion in what seems to be the standard shift pattern. I was rowing through the gears for the first time today and noticed that I couldn't access reverse by moving the shifter to the far right gate and down. I was able to shift into the five forward gears just fine. Am I missing something here? Do these trans have a reverse lockout, or might something else be wrong. I just find it strange the rest of the gears can be shifted into smoothly and it's like reverse doesn't even exist.
  24. I finally finished rebuilding my Weber dcoe's today and put back on the engine. Prior to the carb rebuild this 02 has never run while I have owned it. Needless to say I was very happy when the engine sputtered to life and actually ran! Now that it's running its time to tune those dual Webers. Should be fun.
