If it's as rust-free as he says, and you factor in the mileage at 144,000 at least, $13,000 B-I-N is still in the ballpark, based on comparable sales here in CA and what you would spend repairing a rusty car.

Stupid bitch should lose her license for life. If it was me and on my motorcycle she'd of killed me. Too easy to get a drivers licence here and now you don't even have to be a US citizen.
I have no problem with non-citizens getting a driver's license, as long as they are here legally. But here in CA they are allowing the "undocumented" to get them, too. That I do have a problem with. Since they are doing what they can to evade detection, how likely is it they will add to their paper trail by getting insurance?

Really sucks to see this kind of stuff, especially as it was the result of stupid driving that could have been prevented. Hope you're OK, Ryan, and hope the loser who caused this pays a huge fine and/ or restitution. Good luck locating a replacement 2002, also!

That positive terminal looked pretty close to the body. It was shocking.

Wonder how many of us here have the 2002 fetish and also a Cobra either in our past or in the garage?

I know why he called it that. They do get progressively lighter up in New England.

Plus which, given these cars' propensity to, ah, cast off original metal, Massachusetts is not the first place I'd be looking for a 2002.

The guy's first post here and he's attacking a vendor plenty of people have had good experiences with? Something very wrong about that.

I show the auction having ended on 3/29 with no bids at all.

Funny - they used to be a dime a dozen at shops like Pep Boys. Frowned upon back then, but I've still got mine on the 2002.

Told the seller; he changed it. He was simply unaware of what he has.

I can see it now, and it's not good. Tii owners checking out various cars and proudly proclaiming, "Mine's longer than yours. And I can prove it." A slippery slope.

Where is this secret car club in Northern San Diego?
Mark92131
Mark, I can't tell you, because if I did, it wouldn't be a secret. This are the rules, right?

Someone has suggested they believe this to be a cut-down hardtop, based on the windshield and vent window configuration.

This silver/blue 1600 cabriolet showed up at our local car club meeting this morning north of San Diego. I never got the chance to say hi to the owner or ask questions, so here it is with no details to add.

I can't tell you anything about your new badge is, but here is a shot of the 2002 Tii badge on my unmolested '73. It is 10" in length and you can see exactly how it fits when attached via the factory mounting holes.

The car in Germany is being offered at under $7,000 at today's exchange rate. Looks like a decent example, too, but since I do not speak German, the description may include all manner of caveats. Or none.

I often have a hard time understanding what goes through the minds of eBay sellers. Under "condition," this one states "exterior has original paint," yet the original Bristol Grey is clearly visible in the engine bay along with the new shade of blue the exterior of the car is painted. Why would a seller make such an obviously incorrect statement? Seriously, folks, get a brain.

I give everyone who goes through this process a lot of credit for working to save another 2002. Good on ya, as the Aussies might say. I have taken the easy way out, over the years, by buying cars from the west and making sure they were solid, figuring rust was the hardest thing to properly fix. In the eyes of some of my 2002 buddies, I overpaid for some of the cars I owned, yet when it came time to sell, each returned a handsome profit. Imagine that. I hope everyone who works hard to resurrect one of these terrific cars gets a lot of satisfaction from the process as well as the reward of driving it once it's finished, with that inevitable smile on their face. That's really all the return one needs.

I believe the rear spoiler, which was like hard foam rubber, was standard on these, yet this car is missing it. And the gauge pod looks like it is trimmed in woodgrain whereas they were a darkish red from the factory.

It's now on Bring-A-Trailer, so it'll likely sell quickly.
