Kinda weird that, even though this happened a while ago, it's the second story this month of a Malaga Tii in CA getting totaled.
-
You might also try the following; it's a great resource:
-
"my wife calls me a maroon."
Maybe she has been watching too much Bugs Bunny?
-
I suspect some of the paint tinting differences are the result of oxidation, which any reddish color seems to have a knack for doing well. My '73 Malaga car retains its original paint but, over the years, it has turned slightly more red than the original maroon ever was.

Original paint with 90K+ miles?
Sure, why not? My CA '73 Malaga Tii still has its original paint as well as 135k miles.

I am looking for caps for a similar set of wheels. Mine are Western Wheel minilite copies, with a 2 3/4" bore (center hole). I will be checking with both Minilite as well as Prestige Wheels (prestigewheel.com) to see who has what. I know Prestige has a good website with pictures and dimensions, in case the Minilite site does not offer an appropriate size.

I can only add - good luck from another San Diego Malaga owner who shares your loss (car) but also your happiness (baby).

You may not want to change from the original KKK unit, but you might find it a necessity if the thing can't be rebuilt. Ten years ago, I scrapped my tired KKK device and had a SAAB-based Garrett AiResearch turbo built up for my car. It provided boost at lower RPMs than the KKK, and the boost was smoother, not all of a sudden. Problem is, I'm not sure who is still around today to help engineer the swap, but the folks at Jaymic in England provided a lot of assistance, and could likely do so again if you wanted to use something other than the KKK. Good luck.

Grey and white spatter paint that matches the original? Seriously?
-
Bought a curved one on eBay last year. They still come up occasionally.

I had a "painless dent removal" expert look at 2 dents in my '76 a few years ago. He said that on a car that old, the paint would very likely crack and/ or flake off if he were to do his usual magic. I left them alone.

I'd sure like to see where restored '72 Tiis are selling for $25,000 - 35,000. Sure hasn't happened anywhere I have seen in a few years.
