  1. I have for sale the original 4 speed manual trans from my '71 2002. Unknown miles, but shifted well when removed. Filled with fresh fluid when removed. Periodically spun the input shaft to move the fluid around while it sat in my shop. I wanted to see if anyone here could use it before I try Craigslist... $100 + shipping if needed. Please email me at agoodnight85@gmail.com
  2. I am looking for a somewhat clean, good running 2002. I would prefer an early model with round tail lights and a manual trans. If anyone has one or a line on one somewhere near the DC area, please email me at goodnight85@verizon.net
  3. It is not my car in my avatar, but mine did look like that before I had it painted. I might have been on that road though, I did a lot of driving around the area.
  4. I have been working on 2002s for some time now to the side. I am a professional Porsche mechanic, but I want to start including our old cars into my normal rotation. I know it can be difficult to find someone capable of working on these old BMWs, but I have already helped out a few guys here on the forum with great results. If anyone has any questions about their cars or just needs to schedule some work on their 2002, I would be more than happy to help. My current labor rate is $50.00/hour. Please contact me at goodnight85@verizon.net I am located in Fairfax, Va and I perform most of my work in Alexandria
  5. I have for sale the original block from my 1971 BMW 2002. The engine ran well and I had planned to build it up, but I changed paths and now the block is for sale. The crankshaft journals are still attached. Please respond to goodnight85@verizon.net $50.00 plus shipping Due to the block's weight, shipping will not be the cheapest thing. Please email me your zipcode so I can get you an accurate quote. I live in Northern Virginia, I would be happy to deliver it if the destination is close enough. Just throw in a case of beer for delivery.
  6. I have for sale the original 4 speed manual transmission out of my 1971 BMW 2002. It worked very well and I never had any issues. The shifter is included, but will be disconnected for shipping. Please respond to goodnight85@verizon.net Due to the size and weight, shipping isn't going to be the cheapest thing. Please email me your zipcode for a shipping quote. $50.00 plus shipping

  8. I have for sale the 121 TI cylinder head I had running before I parted the car out. I purchased the head from a guy who had the head rebuilt by Metric Mechanics. It has the factory 264 cam and valves and worked quite well. The deck is straight and it just needs a little cleaning to work as is or it can be a great start for a rebuilt unit. SOLD SOLD SOLD goodnight85@verizon.net
  9. I have for sale a full ignition set-up. $200.00 plus shipping - original Tii distributor with no shaft play - Crane XR700 ignition system with optical trigger installed - Bosch Red coil - wrapped in heat reflective material - New NGK BPR6ES plugs - Accel 8mm wires - a lightly used cap and rotor All that is needed is a 1.8 ohm resistor needed to run the Bosch Red coil, you can run without a resistor if you have a Bosch Blue coil. I had this set-up on my 71 2002 for about 5000 miles and it worked very well. Other than the resistor, it is a plug and play system. Email me at goodnight85@verizon.net

  11. Unfortunately, I must sell my 1971 2002. I bought it about 2 years ago and began restoring it to race readiness about 2 months ago. Since then, I have changed jobs and no longer have the space nor the time to finish the car correctly. The car has been almost completely disassembled, including the engine. Every piece was kept, excluding the oil pan, exhaust system, intake manifold, carb and a few small hoses and old hardware. As for everything else, they have all been boxed and kept. The trans, driveshaft, rear end, front and rear subframes, suspension and wheels are still on the car, allowing it to still roll. Special parts and mods include: Crane XR700 ignition, Bosch red coil, Bilstein HD shocks, IE front and rear sway bars, Autopower rollbar, Corbeau Clubman race seat, Personal steering wheel, 320i alloy wheels, 02again.com aluminum front strut bar, custom rear strut bar, Alpina roundel, 320i radiator, stripped interior (no carpet or sound deadening), cut out front radiator support (planned on welding in tubing for radiator mounting). The car solid with very little rust. The shock towers are solid, the chassis is clean. I begaon seam welding the car, but only have a little done in and around the driver's side door. The car would make an excellent candidate for a racing chassis or just a good parts car. If anyone has any questions, or would like to see the car (located in Alexandria, Va) or the parts (located in Vienna, Va), please email me at goodnight85@verizon.net. I am asking $1800.00 obo for everything.
  12. Try advancing or retarding the timing by spinning the distributor in the housing. With the car fully warmed up, running and the idle speed at 1400 rpm, you should be able to see a little metal ball on the flywheel with a timing light, if not, you need to adjust the timing by either advancing or retarding the timing. Let us know how it goes.
  13. If it was the master cylinder, you would feel the problem all of the time. I noticed you said you put in blue fluid. Was it ATE superblue? If so, see if it is compatible with your brake system. Superblue does not work with some rubber types and eventually degrades them. I could be wrong and/or your system could be compatible with the blue. If not, try ATE Type 200, it is the same as superblue, just no dye (which causes the rubber the degrade). Also try bleeding everything again, you might have some trapped air in the system that might take time to work out. Just keep an eye on the reservoir. Hope this helps.
  14. I have for sale an Alpina front roundel. It is in great shape, but not concours winning. Please make me an offer. goodnight85@verizon.net.
  15. I am now deep into the track prep of my 1971 2002 and I have a bunch of parts I have taken out of it that I am listing for sale - Oil pan - in good shape with a drain plug - SOLD - 4-1 exhaust header - unknown make, I have never seen these piece anywhere before. It does not have a factory flange, instead it has a v-band clamp, but it can be modified to fit anything easily. A little surface rust, but nothing damaging, it worked well before it was removed - SOLD - Original fan blade - in good shape - SOLD - Rear body vents - in good shape - SOLD - Used rear Bilstein HD shocks - unknown mileage, they were on the car when I purchased them, but they worked very well until I removed them a few days ago. Comes with top mounting hardware - SOLD - Distributor housing - good, clean piece that worked well before it was removed - SOLD - Original rocker panel sills - in good shape - SOLD - Original rear seat belts - used, but in good shape - SOLD - Original front seat belt chrome bar & hardware - in OK shape, probably could use a re-chroming, but otherwise solid - $10.00 - Original shock tower collar - bead blasted, in great shape - $10.00 - Original hood cable lever - in OK shape - $5.00 Please send me an email at goodnight85@verizon.net if you have any questions or you want a shipping quote. 16. I am converting my 71 2002 with black grilles to the 1600 chrome grilles and I need an all chrome kidney grille to complete my front end. Anyone have a decent one? Please email me at goodnight85@verizon.net
  17. There is probably an underlying issue with the linkage. That nut should be snug with no binding, check the throttle linkage system from the pedal up and make sure everything is straight, aligned and tight. It sounds like there is a loose connection that is being pulled when you snug the nut down and causes the binding.
  18. Fuel issues are very dangerous, so make sure you go over the entire system before your next start up. With the proper fuel pump, you shouldn't need a regulator, find out what pressure and volume your carbs need to run well. I think Webers operate at around 3 psi, I am unsure of the volume. Also make sure the carbs themselves are in good order, check anything and everything, including the needle valve and float adjustment. Also see if you if you need to run a fuel return line, I could be wrong on this one, but I know it is an option. And finally, make sure all your fittings and clamps are tight. Hope this helps.
  19. Email this member: elementfmfl I built and then sold a custom aluminum bracket that installed IN PLACE of the bumper brackets and allowed for multiple lights. He should have a picture for you.
  20. No, $15.00, the seat isn't worth $150.00. I just need it gone.
  21. I have an old, black leather recaro for a passenger seat in my '71 2002. Im prepping the car for more serious track duty and I do not need this seat anymore. It is in OK shape, a few seams are coming undone and it is clearly showing its age, but it would make a great, easy project. I am located in Fairfax, Va and I was hoping for $15.00 for the seat. Shipping will be difficult due to the size, so I am hoping for a local pick up only. I am willing to drive the seat to someone at a small cost (just cover my gas and all). Feel free to email me with any questions on the seat at goodnight85@verizon.net
  22. I have the factory oil pan off my 71 2002 for sale. I replaced it with a baffled pan and I no longer need this pan. It is $15.00 obo plus shipping. If you have any questions or need a shipping quote, feel free to email me and I will get back to you asap. goodnight85@verizon.net
