  1. The original BMW Kugelfischer setup tools—at least the kit with which I was familiar—consisted of four tools: (1) a rod of specific diameter bent at 90 degrees intended hold the KF pump in wide open position for linkage adjustment, (2) a pin of specific diameter called for in the adjustment of the throttle-body cam, (3) a jig for setting the length and rotation of the shorter linkage rod, and (4) a really nice shim to secure the warm-up regulator piston at a fixed, standard position. The BMW kit has apparently gone the way of the Dodo, but the British supplier Jaymic has reproduced the first two tools, which are offered here. According to a comment in a forum here, the diameter of the Jaymic pump retainer rod more precisely matches the pump socket than that of BMW tool. Domestic postage included in price. Two sets available.
  2. I just found these side panels listed as original equipment for a 1968 1602.
  3. Two days, no response to email. since last Friday phones ring and ring and then I get an "out of service" or more often, a "cannot be connected as dialed" recording. Have checked thenumner several times. It is the one on the website and everywhere else.
  4. Their phone number, 573-765-1269, leads to either a disconnect or "cannot connect this number as dialed" recording. Anyone have another number? Thanks.
  5. Hi, Are you in fact selling these for $1 or are you just looking for trades and had to fill something, anything, into the price field? Thanks.
  6. After-job report: The 320i LSD 3.64 took exactly one quart. Thanks for all. Schuetz1619
  7. My elephant skin pieces have been in my stock so long that the the foam backing has turned to dust but the vinyl's still good. Any idea as to the least messy way to glue them in? Thanks, Gordon
  8. For sale is a new set of both left and right sun visors, aftermarket, from Walloth & Nesch. They're a proper fit and like the originals, one side is cream the other side black. The vinyl is of a leather texture (enclosed close-up). BMW price $246. Price direct from W&N, 99 euros plus 49 euros shipping. Shipping at cost.
  9. I have a new set of 2 trunk side protector panels, Walloth and Nesch aftermarket. These have long been NLA. BMW part numbers 51471814983 and 51471814984. W&N part number 51471814982 (set of 2) I just learned that they were not original to my euro car and I'm therefore offering them to others. Shipping at cost.

    2700056

Der BMW 2002 tii FIN 2700056 wurde am 15.04.1971 produziert und am 15.04.1971 an die BMW Niederlassung Hamburg ausgeliefert. Die Originalfarbe war Colorado, Farbcode 002. BMW 2002tii chassis number 2700056 was produced on April 15, 1971 and delivered to the Hamburg subsidiary on April 15, 1971 [later corrected to April 16]. The original color was Colorado, color code 002. This car has given us 31 years of great driving, up and down the west coast. And after 32 years and over 100,000 miles we're still not done with our initial restoration checklist. Oh well. The car was purchased “as is” in Hollywood, California on March 12, 1991 in (barely) running condition with non-matching engine and transmission. The injection system was entirely of the later variety, with aluminum runners and the later throttle body. The speedo was a replacement and the seller (second or later owner) had no idea how far the car had been driven. The body had been sprayed yellow, apparently from a can. Nothing of the original interior was present and that which was present, including the instrument cluster and dash, was not reusable. Misses in the engine were eventually found to be caused by a 2" chunk of a broken screwdriver in the #2 chamber that had been driven into the head by the piston. It was acting as a glow plug when hot. This was sold as a "newly rebuilt" engine. The car may have been a hulk but it is likely to be the oldest surviving tii, built April 15, 1971, the first day of full production of the euro Model 1971. No earlier surviving VIN is known to the 02-Club of Germany. Over the following five years, we gave the car a full restoration. It was to serve as a frequent driver in urban southern California, and the goal was long-term safety and functionality rather than perfection in terms of originality. No attempt was made to reproduce all of the specifically euro-model features (some problematic for registration in California), but a nod was given to the car’s euro origin in terms of DIN headlights, flat turn signals, euro bumpers, and the absence of reflectors. A manual sunroof was transplanted from a donor chassis and the color was changed to malaga. Over time the engine, injection system, transmission, and differential were all replaced, leaving the drive train modified as shown below. Mileage since purchase: 103,000. Engine: Rebuilt 2004 @ 39,187 miles. Late 2002tii motor w/E12 head and stock cam, custom JE pistons. Compression: 165 PSI x 4 @ 64,000 engine miles. High-capacity radiator, Eberspächer tii mufflers @ 102,000 miles. No US smog equipment. Fuel injection rebuilt and set up @ 98000–99,000 miles (new pump belt, linkage, and late throttle body, Ingraham- rebuilt Kugelfischer PL04 124.02 pump & injectors). Transmission: New Metric Mechanic 320i 5-speed overdrive @ 102,000 miles Differential: 320is 3.93:1 limited slip Suspension: Stock but for urethane swaybar-link bushings & Bilstein HD shocks Interior: Late vinyl seats (tan), door panels, and one-piece dash w/proper instruments and w/o decals. Early-style chrome heater-control bezels
  11. (1) My 74 US 2002 (RIP) had the gray vinyl on the floorboards, and three pieces were glued to the chassis, front floor and both sides. My euro model 71 tii (April, 1971) came with no vinyl or sign of there ever having been any. (Then again, it came with almost nothing anyway . . . ) Would the glued-on pieces have been present in the first place on an early euro model? (2) Would the masonite side panels have been present in the earliest euro tiis? I've read a 2019 thread here that touches on the side panels butsdoes not answer this particular question. By the way, should you need side panels, you can get them from Walloth and Nesch. Thanks in advance to all who might have such offbeat knowledge.
  12. When I turn the steering wheel there is a pitched hum that increases in volume the further the wheel is turned. Perhaps it was there previously, but I don't recall it until yesterday. Any ideas on why this could be occurring /what it means? There's no oil leakage that I can see or feel. Many thanks. P.S. I think of the steering box as "new." Looking back on my records I installed my "new" box 96,000 miles ago in 1998. Still . . .
  13. I have the above diff in my 2002 and am about to change the lubricant. Is RedLine MT90 OK? How much do I need? I have just over a quart and don't want to start if I don't have enough. Thanks.
  14. Thanks to all for the counsel. I should have begun with the following: The pump is freshly rebuilt by Ingraham in Washington. The injectors were checked and cleaned by Pfister. The throttle body is genuinely new, fresh out of the box. Mechanical setup and synchronization were done according to the BMW KF manual. Operating mixture appears to be just fine--no hesitations, good acceleration, good top end and a measurement of 2.8% @ 3000 rpm (not under load). The top hat is adjusted according to the manual and has full range of travel with changing coolant temperature. There are just these light hesitations until temp gets out of the blue. Is cold mixture individually adjustable without changing all of the above?
  15. I painted mine 25 years ago using a Würth spray product recommended by Jim at the old 2002AD in Sun Valley. It didn't have the same sheen that I've seen in period engine-bay pix. It's time for another paint job. Any recommendations for a product available today? Many thanks. 2002tii 2700056
  16. For sale is a complete set of four new, "standard," suspension springs to fit any 1502-2002. These are from the German supplier Walloth and Nesch and closely match the return rates, length, and wire diameter of the BMW originals. Buyer to pay shipping (25 lb.) and insurance if desired.
  17. My tii injection is set up according to the manual and the adjustment of the top hat and its travel are within spec. It starts w/o problem and runs beautifully when warm but has light misses / dropouts when cold. Do the dropouts suggest a lean or rich condition when the engine is cold? I know that the dropouts indicates lean running when engine is warm but have read articles that say this means rich on a cold engine. How to adjust? Thanks.
  18. Hello, If you're not in Bulgaria, where are you, please? Thank you.
  19. I purchased this from BMW in 2003 and have had it in environmentally controlled storage since. It is impeccable and has never been dressed or mounted. It is intact, with no the hole for the seatbelt warning indicator I’ll gladly provide more pictures on request. Personal inspection is welcomed, as is personal pickup. Packing, shipping, and insurance as requested by the buyer, at buyer cost. It’s hard to let this go, but at 74 I won’t use it and know someone else will. Offers considered. (This is in the title but the price field won't accept "OBO.") Sale closes at 2400 hrs., September 25, 2022. Seller reserves the right to withdraw the item from sale at his discretion prior to that time. I'm new to selling here. If any of these terms is in violation of forum policies unknown to me, please let me know so that I can change them. Thank you for looking.
  20. Good morning, I must apologize to you for screwing this up. I've never bought or sold here before and I don't understand the communication process. I received a message from another buyer and sold the jack. When I went onto the website to mark it sold this morning, I found a message from you that had not appeared in my email. It still hasn't. But I didn't find the message from the buyer, though for the header, it must have originated from the FAQ website. I don't understand this at all. Once again, my apologies. If you have better knowledge of how that system should work, I'd appreciate your assistance.
  21. 1974 - 1976 jack and tire iron. Jack works perfectly and is very clean; tire iron has light rust. shipping weight 9 lb. Buyer pays actual shipping via USPS.
  22. Thanks for the response. On my car the jack bolt is smaller in diameter than the spare-tire retainer bolt.
  23. When I had the trunk of my 1972 tii painted, the shop lost (among other things) the retaining nut for the jack retainer bolt. The bolt itself is now thickly painted, and I can't figure out what size nut should thread onto it. Does anyone possibly know? Thanks.
  24. Please forgive me if I ma doing this wrong--I'm a forum ignoramus. I am buying a wrench/jack combination. I only need the jack, however. I'd be happy for you to have the wrench. If the seller, is willing, perhaps he might send you the wrench for postage only if I'm paying for both. If he OKs my purchase, I could inquire about the separate shipping if you wish. Please advise. Best wishes, Schuetz \1619
