  1. I’d categorize that as a “dry looking” belly. Frame rails CAN rust from the inside but so can a lot of other spots. Tap on the rails with a Philips head - you can hear difference between a hollow metal box and a hollow-rust-lined-metal box. The sills and pinch fold are kinda hard to see but the overall “rust theme” would lead me to believe they aint that bad either. I’m gonna side with Toby - the only “weirdness” I see is the trunk floor/gas tank surround but that’s just the way it “looks” to this observer. If you want to buy, plate and drive it looks good. If you want to gut, blast, and paint it looks good. If you want to gut, blast, bring-to-concours and paint it looks good.
  2. If you’re feeling “crazy” and want to split the group up I’d be all over a trunk seal and spacers. Thanks!
  3. Ill take the rallye Monte Carlo in pic 3, the Olympia rallye in pic 1, the rally Baltic in pic 6. Could we say $50 shipped? Let me know.
  4. I’ve got to chime in here. I made my first order from Ireland YEARS ago, I just recently got back into the ‘02 game and ordered over $4,000 worth of parts from them the past few months. I have to say their customer service has become MUCH to be desired. I was told parts were in stock and then got them a month later. I had to email ALL of my inquires as to status because no one could answer a phone. The first customer service guy I had seemed to be somewhat responsive and then I started getting auto replies that he was away from his desk. (I think he’s still “away from his desk” several weeks later) Ireland has been a great resource, they’ve been stalwart in their support of these old cars; I HATE to see them going down the road of poor customer service!
  5. I want to live in a world where 2002 Tii’s kept under a roof cost $3,000!!!!!!!
  6. If you could actually talk the seller into $5 or $6k he has no idea what he has and you won the lottery! It’s all about rust, and then after that, rust, and then thirdly, rust. Engine work is cheap when compared to GOOD bodywork! If it is a Tii - even in a softening market - it still holds a bit more demand. If it’s dry and was truly “restored” and done so well, AND has everything to put it back together AND the decent trim (to include interior), it’s a $10k car. Hell, if you bought it at $10k you’d get your money back next week from some dummy on BAT.
  7. PM returned thanks! I actually need the "pitman" arm at the bottom of the strut housing. BMW calls it a pitman, I call it a steering arm....
  8. I’m in dire need of a pitman arm - If you have one please let me know. Thanks!
  9. These cars are getting old and expensive. Years ago I LIVED on the old roadfly forum in the Dwight Chew, Wagweiser, Ben Thongsai, and others’ days and there was a forum before that but I don’t remember the name; “back then” you could buy a “good” ‘02 for $2500 aaaaaaaaaall day long!!!! Roundel magazine had a 2002 on the cover every other issue and BMMCCA events had as many m10-powered cars as anything else! But those days are gone I guess. I’ve owned 9 of them now and I just recently got back in the game by spending the most I’ve ever spent on a friggin’ PROJECT ‘02! (The gentleman I bought the car from didn’t know faq existed!) I sold my last one a week after getting back from the 02-02-02 event. I think the cult status that used to surround these cars and the “old crew” who could afford to have an old German car have taken a back seat to speculators, flippers, and the trendy/hipster set who drive these cars to exorbitant prices with the like of BAT and others. Many of the aforementioned do not work on them as they pay for someone else to do that for them so they don’t need or read forums like this for tips and they don’t post because they don’t know enough to help others. People with parts know they can post them on all sorts of other online places and get more money than that part is worth because people on here KNOW the actual value of a rear taillight lens! I hate being one of those people who offer problems without solutions but I dont really know what you can do to increase readership. Maybe more dynamic content? Maybe when the prices start to soften readership and participation here will increase.
  10. First of all, I haven't been on the board in 100 years or so. (Hey Brad! Hey Bill!) I am back in the '02 fray again after spending time rebuilding of all things, a...gulp...Land Rover. Anyway this is my 1st note in a while. Though some guys might get a kick out of this e-mail I got from someone wanting to "buy" my Rover. You guys gotta help think of something good to say here! I would love to find this loser but I will settle for yanking his chain. Here it is: Hi , Thanks for your response we have gotten all information needed,I have just spoken to my friend in regards your payment and he has agreed to pay $4,000. Am happy to tell you that my friend has instructed me to carry on with the transaction, he said that I should inform you that payment will get to you in a cashiers check of $7,000 which is a payment of a cancelled order of a car from a car dealer earlier made by him. The order was cancelled because, when the pickup agent went for the pick-up of the car, it was discovered that the car had been involved in an accident and this wasn't mentioned during the course of the transaction. This check {$7,000} will be made out to you due to the refund of the cancelled order from the dealer will be on one check, so you are required to deduct cost of your Property $4,000 when payment gets to you and refund the balance of $3,000 to my friend's shipper/agent via western union money transfer or money gram transfer for him to be able to offset some custom work and shipping charges. After payment has reached you and balance sent to the agent/shipper,our agent will come for the pick up and drive to a prepaid shipper, while title papers and other necessary documents will be sent by you via courier to my friend. All fees, westerunion, courier, etc will be deducted from the balance. Please confirm this and provide name, address and phone number for check payment to be delivered to you via courier services. Josh You gotta love it! Is there some place you can notify about frauds like this? Anyway, good to be back! J.B. '76 2002 "The Red Sled" '70 Series IIA 88" Land Rover, "Isabelle"
