  1. To be rather blunt with you, they really aren't worth anything except to use as a template when you purchase new harness via Painless Performance, etc......

I have 3-4 of them and never paid a penny for any of them.

If I had to affix a dollar amount that I would pay, maybe.....$25.

I'll send you one that I was just given for $20, plus shipping....if you need a template. Whoops, nevermind......it's from a roundie car and a non tii at that.

Now, I have seen them go for upwards of $100 on Ebay. So, that's a consideration.....I suppose.

  2. Um, um....geeze, far be it for me to mention something in support of (p)esty.....but the Ebay auction was edited. You can check the auction link and if you look hard enough, you'll find the word "revised" showing up.

Now, let's talk about that incredibly cute french broadcaster in that screen shot......;-)

  3. I still don't think there's a problem with wildly divergent comments (or poll votes) regarding vendors.

Vendors need to develop (and most of them already have) a thick skin. So, somebody says "Jerry's House of 2002's" suck rocks"......that's quite alright.

A lot of people still order from vendor A & vendor B despite the bad press. Caveat emptor........

It should all come out in the wash over time.

  4. The 1979 movie, And Justice for All.

Al Pacino comes driving up to a nursing home to visit his grandfather in a roundie. Hard to tell with film de-coloirzarion, but I think it was a Baikal roundie. Nice long shot of Pacino pulling up and getting out of the car. Nice working door brakes on this car....;-)

Interesting film, directed by Norman Jewison and the the script co-written by Barry Levinson. It was Christin Lahti's first film role. Also, the fabulous Jack Warner is in it.

  5. > one day, someone, you perhaps, should write the FAQ bible

Heck no....I'm as agnostic as they come. I'm just one of those secular humanist Pac-NW tree-hugging liberals that yearns for people to put aside their differences to get along. Hence the quote....

If I were religious, I'd head in the direction of the subject of the biography I'm currently reading.....Grigori Rasputin.

Isn't there a beer named after Rasputin ?

  6. I think your continual stream of comments will ultimately have

little-to-no effect on someone's ability to sell carpets.

People need carpets & he makes good ones. I'm sure a lot of folks remain in a holding pattern to see if what was ordered will be delivered. If (and when) they are delivered, people will order. Hell, maybe they are still trying to order.

You know, if I get the black one I'm owed....I'll eventually buy a wool salt/pepper one.

It's just like 2002AD, no shortage of buyers. How many of you know an a**hole old-school mechanic that is 100% irascible, but damned good. People still line-up despite the relative unpleasantness of the experience.

You can't just evangelize and continually call someone Satan. It doesn't do a whole lot of good and it gets simply, tiresome. Even threads that have nothing to do with a certain someone, end up being a bashing contest of all the parties involved. It just makes this place look like crap after awhile.

That's why I think a vendor rating forum serves the purpose. It stands alone as proof from the masses. Promote the heck out of it to newbies. if it does what it might be able to accomplish, then truly....caveat emptor.

  7. Look, there's going to be a lot of chaff, in with the wheat.......with respect to vendor ratings.

But how does that differ from the myriad of experiences offered up in a vendor discussion thread? It.....um, doesn't. There's praising, there's bashing......and there's everything in between.

A person can parse through the vendor forum and look at ratings given. Over time, outliers will trend toward to median.

This can work even with cranky comments, non-purchasers offering comments, etc......whatever. Note....this wasn't directed towards anyone.

  8. You know, how about we start a permanent "vendor rating" thread, complete with an ongoing....never closing poll?

The 2002AD thread got me to thinking......

You would have to log-in to place a vote in the poll and I think, almost all forum polls work the same.....later, if need be, you can re-login and perhaps, change your poll rating.

We could have a 5 likert type scale........or a grading system.

    For example, I rate my recent ordering/purchasing experience with Jerry's House of 02's to be: A - B- C- D- F

This is a bit like Ebay feedback and would provide *some* (and hopefully, non-biased) information for the 02 enthusiast.

I think.....think....this would be easy to put into action.

    1. New Forum Area

    2. Each thread gets a poll

    3. Ongoing poll, never closing

    4. Voting by log-in and the ability to upgrade or downgrade votes at a later time.

  9. Awesome......Bill "Spaceman" Lee.

A legend in/around Boston. He had three 17 win seasons in a row

    for the Red Sox.

A very very good pitcher in the 70's. Started two games (no decision) in the 75 World Series. Led 2-1 at the end of 8 innings in Game #2. the reliever lost the game in the 9th for the Red Sox.

Game #7, which took place after Fisk's dramatic game winning HR in Game #6.......was also close. Lee was tied 3-3 when he was pulled in the 7th. once again, the relievers lost it for the Sox.

3.14 in two World Series Starts against the "Big Red Machine". That's pretty fantastic & best amongst the Boston starters. Although, Luis Tiant was at 3.60, and went 2-0 in the series.

Lee was an All-Star, as well. That's too cool to find out that he

    drives an 02.

  10. My goodness, I don't know where people have learned their "salesmanship" skills. Al was particularly guilty of this as well. It's best to just say, "I'm sorry we can't accomodate your needs" and simply, leave it at that. It's not constructive to call someone "whiny", etc....

I've bought from Mike Hannigan via Ebay, and I know I will do so again. Great guy, great products.......no problems. Maybe these are MB brakes, maybe they are not.......maybe they've been altered, maybe not. Maybe they are making obscene profits, maybe they are not. I don't really care....the group buy, is as it stands.

Its up to me to decide to participate or look for Rimspoke's auctions or perhaps buy some MB brakes and see for myself.

However, Zenon makes a good point but perhaps, he took his point too far. This is ALL about information. There's no obligation for anyone to share and I don't hold it against anyone for not sharing.

If you know what parts may/may not work you can choose to share or not share that information. It's up to you, as a buyer to learn the facts yourself. if you take the time to do so, you may save yourself some serious money. OR.....you may decide in favor spending more in lieu of taking the time to research. I know I buy things off of Ebay from a seller that significantly marks up items because frankly, the auctions save me the time to shop for these small pieces.

I don't think anyone is in the wrong here, in the slightest. I do think ultimately, the role of the FAQ is to spread information & knowledge that if used.....can save the 02 enthusiast money. But its not up to a seller to spread that news but I sure do appreciate when things become public knowledge and we all can benefit from it.

  11. I've purchased a bunch of polyurethane bits from AKG on multiple occasions. I can't speak highly enough about this company. Immediate delivery.

In fact, since they know me because of my repeated purchases, they will often ship immediately at the end of an Ebay auction before I've even Paypal'ed.

    Very recommended vendor....
