Some persons apparently had so much girth that they couldn't buckle the durn thing and complained. BMW made this nifty little retrofit device for the end of the model run ('74-'76).

and the seat belt chokes her. There might be

another reason but I am not sure...

was the way the factory service bulletin read.

It had nothing to do with the height of the driver, only the length of the belt. It's true that shorter persons had trouble because of the high, fixed location on the "B" pillar. That's a diffent issue.

Teenagers in the back seat? These inertia reels have enough to move around in the cockpit no matter no matter if the seat is far forward or back.

...Unless the person is "of uncommon proportion."

At the time (mid 70s), the BMW CCA Roundel published a few comments about it.
