Located in California near Yosemite National Park in Mariposa, California.

Intended to build a track car, life got in the way of that plan. Hate to let go of the dream, but time to let them go.

Blue 1973 - shell with minimal rust, just the front air dam area, see photos, shock towers good, rockers good. Dual side draft Webers, Stahl header, hopped up cam of unknown specs. Engine and suspension still intact, rest of the car is stripped. Ran very well and quite fast when parked about 6 years ago. Will roll. New tie rod ends not fully connected so steering is a little bit of a challenge.

Maroon 1970 - total basket case, rusty, engine intact, will sort of roll, had to drag it with my Jeep last time I moved it, one rear brake seized, tires inflate and will hold air long enough to move it. No key for the locking hubcaps so I have never picked the locks to take the wheels off.

I have many spares in various condition from junk to useable and a rare few that are new. I bought several 2002s and parted them out so I have some early blade bumpers from a 69 and some new poly bushings from BMP.

You bid, you win, you pick up both cars and take everything I have that is for a BMW 2002.

Don't ask me to sell you parts, I don't have time for fooling around fielding stupid questions, like "Can I just buy the carbs?" etc. I am happy to answer questions not answered by reading this description.

73 has a salvage title

70 has a clean title

both titles in hand - both cars on non-op registration in CA. No back fees due.

I will by happy to show you the cars before auction ends. No inspections post auction, winner takes the cars AS IS.

Starting bid $200

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
