M20 ECU question

I am looking at buying an M20 motor out of an 87' 325is. It does not come with the wiring harness so I will have to source that elsewhere. I have read that the best ECU to use is #173, #153, or #308. So my question is, will one of these ECUs work with a motor from 87'?? Thanks for the help.

Another option........Megasquirt. diyautotune.com ( http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/megasquirtpnp-c-40.html ) has a plug and play unit for that engine. (would still need stock wiring harness part). Check it out and see what ya think.
