  2. The sellers name was Carlos Castro from Vineland, NJ.  He said the car was a single owner from Cape may that had it stored for years in a shed.  From all the pictures it looked ok, and it ran.  I missed out on two others in my price range and this looked good enough to put the money down, so I'm not too bummed.  It is more of a project than I had expected....

I'm only now finding the goodies after taking out the interior and carpet.  The rest of the car is actually pretty solid.  I imagine the front was exposed to the climate.  I do know the rockers have been replaced, and there is some fresh metal between the firewall and the drivers upright portion of the floorboard.  I plan on getting it up on the lift next week and will post some better pictures.

    Chin up everyone. ?

  3. The fitment on the rest of the fender on both sides is OK, the tab looks original on the passenger side.

I wonder if I go new OEM fender or find a cheap OEM used fender that may be damaged but has a properly formed tab,  cut off the OEM and weld it onto this fender?  Any suggestions here would be appreciated.

That car is the epitome of a polished turd.

Who did you buy it from?

I suggest returning it for a refund, or scrapping it. Yes, I'm serious.

This is what the area you depicted should look like.

    Hey Ray or anyone,

What is the screw hole behind the tab for?

  5. So... bad aftermarket fender slapped on over the crud underneath.

Plan then, ( and please correct me if I’m wrong ).

    1. strip car, including interior, gas tank, hood, trunk, fenders, glass, bumpers, engine and tranny.

    2. place body in rotisserie.

    3. do it right.

I think that about covers it.

    oh yea!
    4. plan on spending more money than car is worth....

    cant wait! Sounds like fun

  6. Thank you for that advice.  I'll be flipping that tie rod over right away.

As far as the rest goes:

It's sounding like an engine removal, and a car cradle maneuver.

I would rather do it right and be done with it.

Most of that I can probably do with a cut-off wheel a mig, air hose and parts.

Still would be happy to pay for experienced help if anyone is in the area.

  7. Now the carpet is out and I'm sniffing around.

Up under the dash on the firewall there was all this seat stuffing poking out of a little hole that when vacuumed out turned out to be a big nasty hole with a bunch of rat debri...

Not sure what to do here.  The firewall on the engine side looks perfect so there must be a cavity here between the upper part of the floorboard and the engine firewall.

I can see some wiring up in there but have no clue what the best plan of action is here.  The rest of the car just got out of paint and this wasn't addressed by the previous owner before paint...

    Help and advice greatly appreciated.

  8. I have three areas that I need guidance on.

First the drivers front frame rail that extends from underneath the drivers floorboard.

It looks like brake fluid and automotive lifts have taken their toll and it's pretty beat up.

I live in Wake Forest, NC and am looking for advice on repair and recommendations on people who do this type of repair in NC around Raleigh.
