  1. I would hope that sellers would not be pushing a buyer to opt for the Friends & Family Payment...or a Zelle Payment.......both of which have ZERO Security...but if I was put in that situation...I would ask as I mentioned before....it matters not what the "Good Folks" would do...as those are not the ones that are cheating folks.....it's the ones that insist on avoiding the secured methods of payment.

  2. fastricky - good post.  I'm one of the guys that got taken by a parasite in the 2002 Classifieds FB Group.....just shameful.  If anyone wants to do some different payments - I think a few things for me are in order:

1 - Picture of Drivers License

2 - Picture of Power Bill or something like that

    3 - Phone call

If they can't do above...i will pass....it's not worth it to get burned again

...but I probably still use some sort of thing with recourse...such as PayPal (not friends/family method).

Rain is good! The great equalizer.  Not sure how 165/80 13 Michelin XAS FF's do in the rain, but I guess we'll find out.

I say the great equalizer, not that I'll be any faster.  Perhaps my son will.  Rain was our friend when he raced the Rotax kart series in high school.  With our 3 year old CRG chassis, non-professionally built engine, and little to no knowledge of tuning or kart chassis set-up we were at the bottom third of the pack on lap times.  Though when it rained, all the thousands of dollars spent on the aforementioned advantages mostly went out the window and he usually ran at the top third of the pack.  We loved it that the other "serious" karters were shocked that he was running with them when it rained.  The first rain race we actually heard people say "who is this kid..."

It will be fun regardless.......we will make it fun. Buddy of mine is coming from TN to co-drive my car...if we have to run the 500 Treadwear Street Tires..so be it.

The young bloods are always faster.....but I like to tell myself I still have some skills left...hahah  See ya there!!

The grilles should work fine, It's the kidney that would need changing. If you want to run a stock kidney, it would save me the trouble of getting the center made. Let me know.

I like the idea of changing the entire look...with the kidney swap also.  If you get some interest from others/make them up..count me in.  Thanks.

Thanks Glen, I'm a Sandlapper BMW CCA member, and the Piedmont area meets on the second Saturday at different locations around Lake Wylie/Rock Hill/Fort Mill.  I actually live in Lake Wylie on the South Carolina side, and work in Charlotte.

I have to figure out one of these events and go also...if i'm actually in town... Tarheel and Sandlapper member here.

Hey Bill...how's it going now?  I live in Charlotte/Cornelius...but out of town for another week...seems to be picking up from what I see online.

Looks awfully nice, although I'd ditch those rims and strip/restore or just replace the grills (4K for what exactly???).

Looks like it has been repainted when the front and tail markers were shaved...maybe that's the $4k

  9. Price: $7000
    Location: Griffin/Atlanta GA

    Description:

Heads Up for Buyers....On the hunt for a 2002 - found the following ad:

    https://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/cto/d/1971-bmw-2002/6649770050.html

Called in a favor with a fellow BMW nut/friend to inspect as i am not local.  Nice owner...however the car is much different than the ad represents - just mentioning as a heads-up for anyone that might be going to see it

1 - Has bondo in rear quarters

2 - RR has been in some damage - dented under bumper

3 - Rust in many places...not terminal..but not great....RR Rocker, Driver Fender Pocket...Driver Door Bottom, Spare tire well..under rear bumper...and scattered

4 - Fresh set of Webers...car will idle..but cannot be driven in current state

5 - Needs all suspension bushings

6 - No carpet (pics show it having carpet)

It's nice that it has many many records....however...much was neglected/not addressed

Car has lots of great/new parts...but....It's not a $7k car by any means...it's a $1000 body with $3500 in very recent goodies IMHO

Not sure if this adds anything of value to the conversation, but IMHO, you get to the point of diminishing returns with respect to fun factor once you pass a certain hp threshold... I'm as died-in-the-wool a go-fast guy as anybody, but when you have too much power in a small, light chassis, it can go overboard. I have driven a bunch of motor swapped cars, and bulit a few, myself including a motor swapped GTS2 racer and have to say that my current pretty well-tuned 2002 with nothing but a 40/40 Weber and a tii manifold is just as much fun to drive as my E30 with full E36 M3 drivetrain and a bunch of go-fast parts on it. Now if you love melting tires, I guess none of this applies, but it's a blast when you have to really drive a car hard to get the most out of it, like a 2002. :)

This set-up is quite nice having ridden in RenaissanceMan's car a few times.....now build a hot motor RMan!!..hahah
