I mean with plug installed
You could count the threads on that photo then on your plug to get a pretty good idea

If you have the brackets on the fender the ones on the air box can be fabricated with out a lot of tooling or anything special.
@Son of Marty these are what I have on the fender well, are they the remnants of where the factory airbox bolted to? Thanks!

Thank you, I don’t believe I do, but going to check now.

Thank you all for the input! Given the scarcity of these, do you all think it’s worth getting this one and fabricating or do you think I’m better off to stay patient? I don’t really have a pulse yet on the used market for parts for these cars just yet. Thanks!!

In looking for the factory airbox, can anyone confirm if this would be the correct one for my 1973 2002tii? Also, does it appear complete? Does it have a mounting bracket or how does it attach? Previous owner put a K&N on mine so I have no frame of reference. Thanks!!

I’ve been dealing with Ian during my last few orders this past month. super quick to respond via email.

Huge shout out @OldRoller, waited 25 hours after setting it, took it for some serious spirited driving and it held like a champ, so glad to have her back out after a month!

Micro surgery performed, ball is now back on Kpump bracket. Coated bracket and ball with JB and accidentally dropped it down the motor, panic ensued. Found it, thank god for my trusty extendable magnet, cleaned it up and reattached. Good thick coat of JB Weld all around. Now wait 24 hours and hope for the best. I’d honestly be shocked if it didn’t hold. Brake cleaner, dried for hours, then scuffed up the metal on both parts before the JB weld. Cross your fingers for me!! 🤞

Tii airbox possibly?

Part No8 has an internal spring clip, it just pushes on to the ball protruding from the pump lever. Can't clearly see in you picture...has the linkage popped-off the ball or has the ball stayed in the linkage but separated from the pump lever?
That a good question. All I see is a little bolt short looking rod protruding from ball and it’s separated from pump lever. Tried to push it back on, but it just comes off

So here’s all that I did before finding my real 2 culprits!!
draining fuel tank (clean)
*cleaning fuel tank pickup screen
*cleaning front banjo KF pump screen
*cleaning and lubing pressure valve on back of Kpump (was sticking)
*new plugs
*new coil
*new distributor cap and button
*new fuel pump
*getting solid 30 PSI fuel pressure now, even when revved
I finally opened tuna can and was so happy to find the throttle body return spring was broken, I thought it was the answer to all my woes! Put the new one on, but alas, it wasn’t the end…
I thought I had double checked every linkage but to my surprise when hunting around tonight saw the final culprit and final boss, the damn linkage connecting to the Kpump!! It must of popped off when the throttle body return spring broke! Placed it back in and temporarily held it with a zip tie and she’s running like a champ!
Thank you to all of you who offered guidance and suggestions, I knocked out a ton of much needed maintenance and learned a ton!
Thank you all again!!!

QUESTION, how is this linkage held onto the side plate on Kpump? Screw on backside? Clip? I can’t seem to see it clearly.
Thank you all again!!!

Adjusting screw’s (middle of tuna can) head looks pretty hammered. Everything alright there? I’d check intake for airleaks with starter spray end then confirm that all linkage setting where at spec & no binding. Pay attention to throttle axle pivot point (down low). Had that once in bad condition.
Everything was set in this position and ran well before the throttle body return spring broke.
Checked for intake leaks multiple times as I kept thinking maybe I missed an area! No change in idle.
Definitely going to check linkages like you suggested and heed your advice in looking at throttle axle pivot point. Thanks!

As you bled them did the engine note change?
Yes, engine note changed with each one of them open, then back to its baseline after all closed back off.

Losen the fittings from injector end.
Thank you for the suggestion, just tried, bled them all out, but unfortunately no change. Great thinking though, any other suggestion you may have? Thanks!

I think i once had to let air out of injector lines.
Interesting, how did you go about that? Top of the pump? I’m up for anything!

You did replace that broken spring with the proper one from BMW, not your local hardware store...presume that spring is calibrated...

Something is way out of adjustment. The lever should be over the hole when at idle.
Always start with making sure you have the correct timing. Then go thru the linkage setting process.
Your idle speed screw is in way too far. and it looks like the mixture screw is set too rich.
Thank you for the insight, bizarre that it ran great before spring broke, and I can’t image those screws would change after the spring broke and only driving it about 10 miles home, would you?

I’ve definitely learned a ton on this car adventure, and after;
*draining fuel tank (clean)
*cleaning fuel tank pickup screen
*cleaning front banjo KF pump screen
*cleaning and lubing pressure valve on back of Kpump (was sticking)
*new plugs
*new coil
*new distributor cap and button

Car was running awesome before all this, took it out and when really getting on it, poof, started limping. Obviously with the broken spring finding I thought, well, it’ll be back to running great again, but still stumbling, barely idling, can’t rev it without stumbling through the tachometer. With all of my maintenance items I can tell, car fires quicker, feels more responsive but still having these issues that I had right when the spring broke.
My question is, when the spring broke could it have set something out of alignment, in tuna can or the linkages going to Kpump? Dumb question, could it have messed up my timing? In the tuna can I can’t see how it could have changed anything, but I’m such a novice I just don’t know at this point.
Any and all advice soooo welcomed!!! Photo of my tuna can currently. 1973 2002tii

Just to rule it out, have you checked and R&Red fuel pressure regulator valve on back of Kpump? Checked front screen at banjo fitting on front of Kpump? Hooked a fuel pressure gauge up and seen what pressure you are getting at idle and when it starts happening? Checked fuel pickup screen in tank? Plug wires?
