Unfortunately the other side buckled meaning the whole rear shifted and would need to be pulled back towards the passenger side.

Still working with them. I'm pretty sure they are going to say its a total loss. Gotta figure out what my options are with them.

Hi there. How is that project going? I've been thinking in doing the same with my 73'. I just want my car to 'move' better. Where are you located?
How much power are you expecting to get out of that engine?

Hi,
I'm located in Phoenix, AZ. The swap is going slow but making progress. The engines in both cars are 2.0 liters so there wont be a huge power increase. I'm sure it will run a hell of a lot better however due to a low mileage engine, with good rings and gaskets. I believe your car may be a 1.8 so there may be more of a power increase with your swap. I purchased a Ireland Engineering shorty header to replace the stock exhaust manifold so that should add a little bit of power and reduce weight. What I've done so far is prep the 320i for the engine to be removed. I disconnected, exhaust, all lines an hoses to engine, radiator and took off the fuel injection because I'm going to place my weber on the new engine for now. It's amazing how much weight all the fuel injection and intake bits add to the engine. I also already swapped the 320is LSD rear diff in my car. Thats a pretty sweet little upgrade for my 2002. The LSD swap took a little bit of additional work to the cv axles cause the 320 cv joints have different bolt sizes than the 2002. Had to modify the cv axles to have 2002 joints on the outside and 320 joints on the inside. Not a super difficult job but real greasy. I finally picked up a engine hoist and two engine stands on craigslist for $100 and will pull the 320 engine next week. The only major change to the engine ill have to do is swapping oil pans and oil pickups. I've been told its a pretty straight forward swap. Im also collecting the parts for the 5 speed swap. I'll have to modify the driveshaft and shifter plate. But Ill tackle that when I put the engine and trans in the 2002.

I sold out of Large, XL and XXL shirts. Thanks so much to everyone that bought the shirts! So sorry to those that wanted a shirt after I sold out. I should have printed more. I may do another round of shirts soon.

Hi uf0r1ck,
Thanks for your interest. I'm almost all sold out. All out of larges. If I print some more shirts, I'll let you know.

Nick, Thanks so much man! Boytutpik, that seems like pretty accurate quotes for legit body shops. I took a gamble with my paint and body guy cause he was just starting his own business. He did all the bodywork outside except for paint. I got lucky cause he did a really good job. Also, Phoenix is a large area and theres a ton of bodyshops spread throughout the valley. Lots in industrial areas. And labor is cheaper here. It helps if you speak spanish too, or pretend to in my case. I think you're gonna get a hell of a good paint job when you pay up and have a hot rod or resto shop do it. The cheaper route could work out too if you know the place does good work.

Boytutpik, already planning on printing some XXL's!! So interesting story about the cost of the work. I met my bodyshop guy through an ex and was quoted $3500 before any work was done. I think I was quoted the homie discount price. There was quite a bit of bondo on the car that was discovered later and some welding that needed to be done as well. We haven't discussed the final price yet but I am also creating a website for them so that will be factored into the price as well. Have yo got any quotes? Where are you located?

Thanks jmel02, I'll contact you when the shirts get printed. Thanks for your interest Boytutpik, just to clarify, is the shirt size you want a doubleXL or doubleXXL? Just want to make sure its the right size.

Awesome NoCashValue, I'll keep you posted on when they get printed.

Hi Scommando1, I just talked to my print guy today, I'll let you know as soon as they're printed!
-
Glad you dig the shirt Rosheee, I'm planning on printing 20 so as soon as i get them screen printed, Ill let you know.

Thanks halboyles, I'll let you know when I print them. Thanks Ray, that's a good catch with the side marker, actually the graphic is missing the front turn signal and side marker. I did a really quick mockup which you see in the pictures. The original design has front signals and markers but I guess it didn't make it to the final picture above. Haha, that will be fixed when I screen print the shirts.

Thanks for the info Dave!

Thank for the info Larry. I have a new set of tires on the 15" Corrado steel wheels (in the first photo) i bought a few months back. Hopefully those fit just fine. Planning on using those on the new BBS's. Nice project you have going.
Cheers.

Great looking car James. Thats the cleanest mintgrun 2002 I've seen. I'm not sure I'm sold on returning the car to the original color but who knows. Those Corrado's look fantastic too. Did you paint them? I'm loving mine. They're perfect for the car. I'd like to see what they look like with center caps but haven't been able to find some chrome ones that would work.

No, this is the first time doing any kind of leather work. No template for the leather so that was kind of a guessing game, since the leather stretched. The stitching looks pretty decent but a more heavy duty sewing machine that makes bigger holes would have helped. The leather feels pretty awesome.
