I'm running into some problems with my alternator and a drained battery. Car is new to me, and while looking it over last night, I think the problem might be that the alternator isn't grounded. Based on the excellent charging FAQ page, it looks, however, like the normal grounding point/bolt/nut aren't there. Can I attach a new ground wire to the point on the opposite side, as detailed in this image?
Thanks for the guidance!

Great to hear! I have a set on order, and I can't wait to upgrade my crumbling 40-year-old belts.

I've heard good things about Motorspeed West. Run by two brothers, Ken and Bill. I think I've heard that Bill is the better mechanic of the pair, and Ken takes care of the business stuff. I think. Either way, they've been working on 02s for a long time.

I'm looking to replace the fuses on my 1973 automatic, and I've found charts (using the search function) that call for a mix of 5,8 and 16 fuses, and others that call for just 8s and 16s. Can anyone help me sort out which it should be?

Hi,
Anyone here have a spare PRNDL Shifter Cover? Maybe a castaway from a 5-spd upgrade?
Alternatively, I really only need the film, so if you have that, please let me know.
Thanks!

Hi Bay Area folks,
Anyone around here have a spare PRNDL Shifter Cover? Maybe a castaway from a 5-spd upgrade?
Thanks!

Awesome, thanks. Email sent.

How much for the gas filler neck?
I'm also looking for an automatic shift selector film. Do you have any of those?
What's the asking price for the dash?
I'll eventually need a heater core, so maybe I could order it now to get bulk shipping?
Thanks!

So ... about those door/trunk locks that have been at the root of all the nasty posts ... Did they sell? I'm interested, if not :-)

My new 02 doesn't have trunk boards. Anyone in the Bay Area have an extra set, or a pattern for cutting out new ones?

Looking for a set of round, chrome-backed driving lights. If you have hardware and the other electricals, that's awesome, but not necessary.

Hi Resra,
Whereabouts are you in the Bay Area? There are lots of fine shops, and since this sounds like a relatively small job, you might as well do it close to home.
When you're ready, we'd all love to see your car. :-)

Here's a clean looking 74 automatic on copart.

If you need a new headliner, now might be the time to do it, since you'll already have the seals/windshields out anyway.

FWIW, I spoke to a Redline rep about a carb for a 73 automatic I was looking into buying, and he recommended a K204-38.

Hi Stuart,
Sorry to hear about your cancer diagnosis. I hope your treatment goes well.

Hi all,
I've searched around the forum, but I haven't come across a recent ballpark quote for reupholstery costs. What should I expect to pay to restuff and recover two stock seats (no headrests)? I'm in the Bay Area, if that helps.
Thanks!

Haha, yeah, I'm not quite going for the checkerboard look. But thanks anyway!

Any chance you have the drivers side panel too?

Hi Esty,
I have an Atlantik blue and plan to do the interior in tan. What carpet color would you recommend?

Thanks for all the input. RE: the 76ers, I live in California, and I get the impression that smogging them is a giant pain, so I've been looking at cars 75 and older. I'm fortunate to have a decent garage at home, and will only drive a few miles to work a few days a week (plus some fun runs on the weekends), so I'm hoping I can avoid rust and the risks of city living.

Alternator grounding question

Great, thanks. I'm going to take a shot at fixing this tonight, and either charge the existing battery or drop in a new one. Hopefully this solves my starting woes!
