  1. Ultimately I really don't have my heart set on the s14, I've just always figured if I ever bought an 02 that would be how I'd build it. But I'm starting with clean slate with this car and really have the option of doing whatever with it. For the money there's a lot of options since acquiring an s14 and then rebuilding or getting it freshed up for the swap is not going to be cheap. There are a lot of engine options to choose from really. My plans for the car are to have a fun play car and do a few track days every now and then but really it's just another toy. Something the wife and I can cruse to the beach house with in the summer or just go run it through some twisties in the mountains. The car really doesn't have a specific purpose. The other options I had in mind were a s50 (although I think it'll be too heavy in the front) or even just building the M10 with some sort of injection and a turbo. I think a turbo M10 could be pretty fun with a 5 speed obviously... I already have the motor. Hmm... Choices Choices Choices lol Guess I should do some homework on the m20 as well.
  2. Thanks for the tip on s14.net I kick myself because I had a 91 I bought right after high school and I think I paid 16k for it. I looked for another one a while back and I couldn't believe how much the prices have skyrocketed for those cars now... well a decent one anyways. There are the ghetto buckets out there for a decent price, but the last thing I want t buy is somebody's hooptie contraption. Funny thing is right after I posted this I saw one popped up in the classifieds, took less than 24 hours to sell. Hopefully I'll be able to come up with something eventually.
  3. Is it just me or is it nearly impossible to source one of these engines now???
  4. I just noticed PM's are disabled on this board... Shoot me an email if your interested in the wheels. Chris@arson-wake.com I'm interested in the specs of your Epsilons, they look like they fit really nice! Do you have a build thread for your car?
  5. A tip for working with composites, be it fiberglass or carbon fiber. When sanding or working with cured material cover your bare skin with baby powder, use enough to get a good layer on all of your skin. When your done working use cold water to rinse the baby powder off your skin. All of the small fibers will stay on the outside of the baby powder on your skin and keep you almost completely itch free!
  6. That's what my father said when he saw it! I don't think I'll end up running them on the car since I'll be putting a set of flares on the car and I won't be able to get the stance I want with these wheels. Ideally I'd like to find a set of BBS E30 race wheels from an old track car. I have a feeling I'll be searching for those for quite some time though. I'm pretty excited about the car, it should be a fun weekend/track car when it's done. I might be interested in getting rid of them if the price was right, Ideally I'm interested in putting BBS' on the car. Shoot me an offer if your serious.
  7. So this is the start to what I'm sure will be a LONG on going thread. I've been thinking about another project car for a while and one of the things I was keeping my eye out for a decent 02. When I was a kid my father restored a 72 tii and it was one of my favorite cars he built but this will be my first 02. Over the years I've restored and built my fair share of show and race cars. After starting my own company eight years ago I found my self with little time to think about cars much less build another car but the love has always been there and now that I've got a little more free time in my life I started searching for something new to build. While driving out to my fiance's parent's house I spotted this car on the side of a so called "classic car lot" the lot looked more like a lot of junk and crappy cars from mid to late 80s but this car kinda caught my eye. I called the owner the next day and he informed me he bought it as a parts car early this year and that he'd be willing to let it go for what he paid for it. Ultimately I really wanted to find a Tii or at least a roundie but in the end I didn't want a car that I was going to restore back to original condition, I wanted to build a play car. So for $500 I figured this would be a good start. So here it sits, all in all it's a solid car. It's got what looks to be 3-4 paint jobs over top of the original metallic brown. It's got a good amount of surface rust and the coats of paint are falling off left and right, but there's no major rust damage that I can see so far except for a small spot under the windshield. So far I've got a lot of different ideas and direction I'd be interested in taking the car but I haven't come to any decisions as far as the motor and the style I'll be going for. Ideally in my head I've always wannted swap a s14 into it one but it seems like those engines are getting harder and harder to find, especially one that someone isn't asking an insane price for. So first thing will be to get the car stripped down and over to the media blaster to see what's hiding underneath all that paint and get it ready for a fresh paint job inside and out. This is how she sits at the moment... I did score some cool looking 13x6.5" wheels with the car...
