  1. No. I am a fairly new owner and hadn't looked into that yet. How do I find out about it?

  3. I have read various posts on this forum that have been helpful in de-smelling the old 2002 but there is one that I didn't really find anything on. First, to let you know what I have eliminated - Crankcase ventilation smell - restored vacuum secondary extraction (in addition to return to carb in air cleaner. Also built an air cleaner 'flow director' that basically encloses the small air cleaner for the 32/36 with an opening only at the front to keep the vapors from drifting through to the cabin when driving. Works great. Just replaced O-ring on gas tank level sensor and am hoping that will cure the overcoming smell when I open the trunk. The last think I haven't figured out is the exhaust smell itself. It doesn't seem to burn any significant amount of oil and no coolant sweet smell or gas smell. I haven't noticed any smoke on decelleration either. It's more like a pollutiony kind of smell. Is this just a normal kind of smell for an old car like this or can I get rid of it. It isn't a huge problem when the car is moving but at a light with the wind blowing it back toward the cabin or when I get out of the car and walk behind it, it is annoying and somewhat embarassing if I am in a public place.
  4. Thanks for all the tips. Clutch Master Cylinder arrived today from autohausaz. Will look for a turkey baster before I start.
  5. One other thing I should mention. I think I have a leaking Clutch Master Cylinder by what I've read elsewhere on the forum. My brake fluid reservoir has been draining down to what I now know to be the take off line to the clutch master cylinder. The fluid has been leaking from under the car in the area under the pedals. Could this some how be related. I only noticed the leak the last couple of weeks and the noise has been going on for some time but maybe something was happening with the master cylinder before that and I just wasn't aware?

  7. I guess I am showing my ignorance. I thought it would show up when the engine was turning and the car was not moving (in neutral) with the pedal out. That is actually when I hear a sound that sounds kind of like a dry bearing or something. I don't think it makes think it makes it when it is in gear and the car is moving. I'm not really familiar with what a bad throw out bearing would sound like - just guessed, and probably wrong.
  8. I think my car has about 115K miles on it and probably the original 4-speed transmission and clutch. As far as I can tell the clutch is in good shape, however, it sounds like the throw out bearing needs replacing. The question is whether I should do anything with the clutch when I replace the bearing. Assuming average clutch wear, how long do they usually last?
  9. That's sort of what I was wondering. I had thought about installing a third brake light but will probably save that money and put it toward your LED system.
  10. I notice on the website for this that the picture of the roundie has a third brake light. Is that included in the kit for the roundie?
  11. Thanks for the responses. I did get about 25mpg for the trip so I'm not complaining too much about gas mileage. One thing I liked about the RPM being where it was is that I found that it had good response on hills. I wonder if I would be downshifting a lot if I had a 5-speed overdrive. And, the vibration at other speeds was not excessive, it just seemed like the engine almost 'disappeared' at 4k.
  12. I am a fairly new owner of a '73 2002 of about 4 months and had been driving my car around town until this week when I took a road trip. The engine is pretty much stock (I think) except for a Weber 32/36. I had gotten it on the freeways around town periodically and had always felt like it needed that 5th gear to get the revs down for longer highway usage so I was a little anxious about the 200 mile trip I was too take earlier this week. However, I found something a little surprising as I pushed on up toward 4000rpm (about 73mph). All of a sudden the engine vibrations went to a minimum and the engine had sort of sweet purr in the back ground. It was almost as if it was designed to run at 4000rpm. Just curious if anyone knows anything about the engine design that would confirm this or other personal experiences like this?
