UPDATE: well it was kinda of a 'perfect storm' of dumb on my part. on the passenger side brake light was out, my guess is because it got wet due to my siv-like tail light seals. On the driver's side...here's were the dumb comes in, I saw that my marker bulb was out (it pops out periodically) It was dark and raining and unscrewed the housing off and in a rush to pop it back in i unplugged the brake bulb. So to recap, it was a continuity issue on the driver's brake light bulb and a burned out bulb on the passenger's side. Luckily I live in SoCal and it hardly ever rains over here...wait a minute!

Hey guys, just a quick question. I have a 68 02' and my brake lights stopped working and I'm wondering if you folks have suggestions on what I should check. I looked at the fuses and all 6 look good. It's been super wet here the last few days and I'm hoping nothing got shorted out. Any help would be appreciated

I'm still wishing there was a 'dislike' button on facebook but I see what you mean too, maybe +1 will have to do for now.

The clouds are hanging a bit low and it got dark sooner than I'm used to (thanks day light saving time), In times like this I remember my dad who passed away in 94'. He was a really good BMW technician for BMW of Santa Monica and Zipper BMW before it was called BMW of Beverly Hills. It was his dream job and he loved working on these cars. all the years since, and now its been officially longer without him than with him I think about all the wasted opportunities I had to bond with him. He worked on cars all the time as a hobby and as a teenager I couldn't be bothered to help him and I really hate myself for that. Years later I saw he wasn't trying to screw my weekend up he was trying to show me something useful and maybe a skill i could make a living off of and I can't believe i rejected that. He died of liver cancer in 1994 and he didn't drink more than anyone else I've ever known, maybe a beer at dinner and a few on the weekend and some think it might have been all the solvents and chemicals that he worked with before rubber gloves were standard procedure. I don't know about that but just for safety's sake always wear gloves peeps. Some years later my brother followed him into the trade and now he's a very successful tech at the same BMW dealership my dad worked at and I'm very proud of him. Here is a pic of my dad around 93'. I miss you so much dad. I'm sorry i was such a brat. (he's on the right)

To Tony and Rover, I by no means meant that I havent had a number of duche bags cut me off (this is L.A. after all) but no more than when I used to drive my 91 civic ex. The difference being, when I drove my civic, nobody, and I mean NOBODY ever complimented it or even approached me to swap previous civic owner stories. I've also find that when someone wants to race on the freeway my 02 ain't no slouch and when they pull away its because theyre in the completely stupid speed range and I'm not taking my car there. Off the line though, i got to admit my car doesn't stand much of a chance. Also I think that when I've been nearly run off the road it's been by tiny women, in gigantic SUVs. I don't usually get too pissed, I just figure they can't see us too well (same thing would always happen in my civic too).

Every day that I've driven my 02 since i bought it 4 months ago, I've received compliments or nods from other drivers, today wasn't any different. I decided to take the 110 freeway from downtown to Pasadena and since the traffic was pretty light, the twists just before the freeway ends were glorious. When I got to the intersection at the end of the freeway a guy in a Ducati pulled up next to me and complimented the roundie and told me that he once owned a 73tii and we both agreed how awesome these little cars are. I added that I didnt need to take this route to get to where I was going but I did it just because the road is excellent. He tapped the Ducati badge on his gas tank and said "me too", at that point the light turned green and he left me in his dust. It really is pretty damn peculiar how much attention these cars attract. Not many other cars put smiles on peoples faces like 02s. I'm still not used to this, but I do like it.

I work for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept. as a Court Services Specialist...which is a fancy name for a process server. Sadly the worse the economy the more work for me. I can't begin to tell you how busy I am right now. Lots of people being sued and evicted, but some one has to do it. I will be married this june and me and my fiance plan to start an apparel company after we're hitched. If I could do it all over again I would've gone for pro photographer, for now it's still my favorite hobby.
