  1. We replaced the pads and rotors, as well as rear shoes and drums. The car pulls to the right under hard braking. The car has been in storage for several years, so I figured it probably had a frozen piston or some other problem in the left caliper. So I replaced it. Still pulls. Caliper has 3 bleeder plugs. NO problem with the lower inner and outer plugs. Bled just fine. The upper outer plug? Nothing ever comes out. Does this mean there is blockage somewhere in the caliper? Or elsewhere? I know there are two lines going to the caliper. Both dripped plent of fluid on my floor while disconnected. Any ideas where the problem is?
  2. Thanks. You guys are a huge help. These forums are the best thing to ever happen to the "car hobby".
  3. The lights are all still connected, and when I run power to the blue/black and blue/red wires the respective side signals will light up. They will also flash when I turn on the hazard lights.
  4. So if I ground the switch housing while I trouble shoot it, I should be better able to figure out the problem, right? What I'm wondering, is where is the power source for the signal lights? The blue/black and blue/red run to the lights themselves. I figured out that much. The white and yellow wires are involved with the headlights/dinner switch operations. The green wire has power when ignition is switched on. Does the power that operates the signals come through the hazard light switch? Or is there an internal connection between the green wire and blue/red &blue black terminals? There is a green/yellow wire that is between the blue/red and blue/black wires. I haven't traced it ocmpletely, but there is a green/yellow wire that connects to the hazard light switch. Even with the switch assembly hanging loose, when I turn on the hazards, all four flash, and power is routed through the system. The car has the 12 fuse system. The only wiring diagrams in my Haynes "Book of Lies" is very hard to follow. Printed in some sort of micro print. IF someone could post a legible 12 fuse diagram, it would help.
  5. A place called ASSA racing on Longpoint says they will have some tomorrow. Thanks a bunch, guys.
  6. We are in the process of a brake job. Just changing out rear shoes, wheel cylinders, rotors and pads, etc. The system is full of ATE Super Blue brake fluid, which I hear is pretty good. Is there any place near Houston where I can buy more? I know I can mail order it, but I'd rather just pick some up than pay for shipping.
  7. Can you get me a hazard switch for less than the $96 the Stealership just quoted me??
  8. On the good side, the engine runs strong, and the car has some nice Eibach springs, Bilstien shocks, and aftermarket sway bars. On the bad side, we need some misc. parts, mainly for the interior. Idealy, someone would know of a parts car in a salvage yard near Houston. We need: 1. Both front seat belts 2. The plastic part that goes on the steering column 3. Center console and underdash parts 4. Sunvisors Any sources would be helpful. Was very happy to discover suspension mods.
  9. When I had the Mercedes (1991 560 SEL), I got my parts from a place called "Performance Parts" (If I remembr right). It was cheaper than the "Stealership", and more complete than Autozone or JAP-GEON. What is the best parts source for the 2002's?
  10. The PO dropped off the car last night. Body is straight except for a small dent on the left front fender, and small dent on driver's door. Some minor surface rust on roof rails and trim, but only hole is passenger side floor. Frame rails, sills, rear shock towers perfect. Glass intact. Car is dark red with later 3 series 14" rims. Everything under hood present. Car has downdraft Weber and tube header. Inpsection sticker is 2003. Car may have been sleeping longer than we thought. Motor LOOKs good. We need to know: favorite brand and weight of oil other favorite fluids favorite 14" tyres Any other helpful hints This is my little 19 year old girl's first car, and our first BMW (not counting Uncle John's 1600 he left with us when I was a kid and he was sent to New Guinea)
