  1. I'd like some sort of drain pan that you can return to the waste oil without having to use the pan as a middle man so so speak. As in, you buy a half doz quarts of oil in a shrink wrap or plastic bladder, and the outer container will have some kind of lid or something like that. This way it can go right from oil drain, to recycling facility.

  2. We in the northeast have been battered with rain, two days a week for the last month. Though my fan works, it doesn't work great. I've only got one speed working; full blast, and as much as that helps, there's still huge areas of foggyness.

At the home depot yesterday I had an epiphany, Damp Rid! I guess it's a giant silica pack. I have it sitting right behind the passenger seat.

I didn't even need the fan on this rainy morning at all! Hopefully I won't be doing any long term damage to my lungs.

  3. One of my first cars was a 1979 Trans Am, It had t-tops, and I had a Mullett! I was pulling onto a portion of route 1 (North shore folks know this road) that you need to do practically light speed in order to not get rear-ended. I hadn't locked down the driver's top and as soon as I pulled out onto the road, the centrifugal force pulled that top and turned it into a giant ninja throwing-star. It found a mark on the side of a contractor's van that was in the travel lane.

What a giant mess that was, and that top was a PITA to replace.

  4. Blunttech all the way. I'm pretty new to the 2002 game, but these guys are ON THE BALL!

I regret my first few purchases from Bavauto because Blunttech is so helpful!

Quick story, I ordered Alt bushings and new taillight lenses from Bavauto, and they sent out the parts, but DIDN'T mention that most of the bushings and one of the taillights were on B.O. So I tried Blunttech, and they quickly explained that the right taillight is NLA! Bavauto assured me that this is not the case and they would have the lens by the end of the week. Not the case. The only good thing is that Bav was pretty good about returning my money for a part thats on backorder indefinitely.

  5. So a quick backstory. Checking this website, I'd found my new BMW 2002.

In the past I'd had a 73 that was a complete rot-box, and a 76 that was great, but had worn exhaust seals.

Now I have this one, it's a 71 that was painted Ceylon. It's in okay shape, I flew from Boston MA to Appleton WI to buy/drive it back. This car made the trip with no major issues.

Here's some of the problems that i'd like to sort. So any advice would be appreciated!

    1) car is a converted automatic to a 4sp. I need to connect the reverse light switch electrically. Any tips?

    2) gas stank. The fumes are coming in, and I'd like to do a rear battery conversion, but not with the gas fumes... As far as I can tell, the vent tube is going into the charcoal canister.

    3) vague steering feedback. My 76 had this too, but i'd like to clear this up as much as possible. Is this something that I can address with an adjustment to the steering box, or something that I should throw parts at?

There's a buttload of great info throughout this forum, but pinpointing information is tough.

    thanks!

  6. I'd recently run into the same thing. Flickering gas gauge, temp jumps with lights/directionals. I cleaned up the grounds and it helped a bit. I'm anticipating a proper groundstrap from BLUNTTECH and this may solve the issue.

  7. Any tips out there for keeping the fog off the windshield? It's raining like a m'fer in the Boston area, and I've been driving with my head laying on the dash to see out of the tiny area that the de-fog works on.

So far i've been using DD's napkins, and my sleeve.

  8. hi,

just picked up my 2002, looking for some parts.

    -keyed r/l door handles

    -antenna (factory a pillar)

    -sunroof seal

    -manual (not haynes or chilton)

**Also looking for the bushing for the steering shaft. I guess this eliminates the freeplay in the steering wheel to coupler.

let me know what you've got
