Gotta couple of ?'s Is the original vinyl available anywhere? Couldn't find it on Max. Best attachement method - vinyl to wood (spray, roll-on). If I wanted to cut new wood, what would work best?
Many thanks all,
Jim

I started a thread on this about 2-3 weeks ago. The final piece of advice I received was to wear a wide brimmed hat to cover my ears as I went thru the windshield. Cheap is good. New belts are cheaper than comming to my trauma unit and usually have better results. Be safe

I have some new (to me) stock springs to replace my cut front and rear (previous post) I'd seen some posts about diameter and such, but can they be sand blasted and painted. If so, talk me through it.
Thanks all

Ha!! Got the picture guys. Ordering new ones Monday.

If I could get gas w/o it dumping out of the filler neck, I'd be a happy mutt. I do a 3 day round trip in a '03 Ford F-150 @ 18 mpg. 185 mi one way on Monday and 185 back on Wednesday. Ya don't wanna know. I put 5 Gal in the '73 '02 today at 4.43 gal and got 1/2 a tank. I put 2 5 gallon cans in the truck when I fill up and dump those in the beemer.

Have the original seatbelts (Autoflug) but I can't get them to extend for cleaning. Both were in a box when I bought the car (73 '02) and since they're original I'd like to continue the tradition. Would reinstalling them make a difference or can the retractor/extender mechanism be rebuilt?
Thanks guys/gals

Thank you Sir,

Thanks Mike,
A few more questions. I'm not going to do this myself, but is it aluminum or plastic, is it available thru a BMW dealer or alternate source? Again, many thanks,

Thanks again for all the cool info to date. In the middle of the window gasket exterior is a plastic(chrome) trim piece both front and rear. Today's stupid ? is "what is it called and where do I get front and rear parts?"
Thanks to all

Let me know what you find Keith. I'm in Friant and need the same for my '73 02a Malaga. I may have a line on a grumpy 'ol bugger that does great work...just may not want to do it any more. Keep in touch.

Thank you Sir! up on the jacks in the morning to get a peek!

Looked at search but didn't find a winner. '72 02a w/a 32/36 & K&N. All original. I hit the gas and there is about 1/2 to 1" of play in the pedal and very stiff to boot. The likkage mount is pivoting on the firewall hole (original I'm guessing). I'm looking for a smoother and "easier" pedal response w/o the play.
Link or suggestions very welcome!

I love most of those answers! Mine ('73 02a) is wired to the A/C. I tried the rear fog lights and people thought I was in the wrong lane

My bad. 1973 2002A with signal control on the rightside. Also...is there a post or site w/ a listing for bulb replacement, like numbers and cross reference. Looked in my Haynes...but it's got more dirt on it than I do.
-
As I start to dig in...turn signals come on, the seem to get weaker...from the column side. As long as I hold the lever up, or down, it's fine. If I let go, they blink a time or two and then off. Does this sound like a contact in the column and are they easy to find?
Thanks for all the help to date!

Could we have a section on Good ie:reliable, trusted, used before by several people, blah , blah, blah, mechanic, electrical and upholstry folks in various areas? I know there will be a lot of "tear it up" about so and so who did this and who did that, but if we keep it to the good ones?
-
Ha!! I'll call it "the city" I hope to have 1 of 2 looking like that very soon...thanks for the pic's

Swap is a cool option. Lets see what we can work out.
