I also received a free t-shirt when I ordered a block off plate about 9 months ago. I had no idea it was coming. When I opened the box there was this beautiful 02 t-shirt and it just so happens it was a size large. It fit perfectly! I was totally surprised! I wear that shirt all over the place with pride and joy.

Car was never a tii. the hole for the snorkel is there. you can see it better in another pic. if i was more savy i would be able to paste it into this post like you did. the PO must have removed the snorkel cylinder but the hole is still there.

Ed - unfortunately, i don't have an extra front grille or bucket. If you are looking for these used there is always ebay. If you're looking for new I can recommend Blunt. just do a search and you'll find him.

what am i getting done? at the moment I'm having the rusted frame rails repaired and the engine bay and front subframe repainted. After engine bay paint, i plan to have the original engine (which has been rebuilt) installed. also doing a 5 speed swap, and all new ireland stainless exhaust and header. terry sayther is doing the mechanical work down here in Austin. After the mechanical work is all done i plan to bring the car back to the body shop for a complete paint job with new trim.
glad to hear i have a twin out there. hopefully you are restoring yours as well. there can never be too many Saharas on the road!
It's amazing the rust you find on these cars. From the start my car looked to have very little rust (just surface rust it appeared). that was not the case once we started peeling back the layers. thankfully i have a terrific body man who is finding all the rust and nipping it in the bud. He works awfully slow but his quality is top notch. Rodney Austin of Austin Collision & Body works. He's a Camaro guy. Everytime I'm at his shop all i can do is drool over his Camaros. however rest assured im an 02 guy at heart. while the camaros look sexy they just can't handle the turns or brake like the '02. plus small is the new sexy..right? at least that's what i tell myself. lol

I think the PO did have ac at one time. so if i patch the holes do i lose the ability to have a/c in the future? i don't expect to install a/c but it would be nice to have the option down the road if i so choose.

Take a look at the two holes above the transmission tunnel. Any idea why these might be here? Looks like the PO may have made these holes. My body man is asking if I want him to patch them up with new sheet metal. Thought I would ask you all for you input before I give him the green light.
Thanks,
Bob

sounds like i need to look around for a 380mm wheel. I had a feeling 360mm might be too small. thanks again for all the feedback.

Touche, c.d. iesel
but what about size?
-
This wheel is 360mm or 14.2 inches. Is that an ideal size? I've heard of some nardi wheels that are 380mm or 15.4 inches. I do not have a sense for what 1.2 inches difference would make so I'm curious to get some thoughts. I plan to use this wheel in a fairly stock car so it's not for racing.
Thanks for the feedback I appreciate it.

Is this wheel an ideal fit for the '02? It's a bit pricey but would look gorgeous with my tobacco interior.

Hello All,
I'm rebuilding the engine in my '02 and I'm curious if you guys normally replace the crankshaft sprocket. It wasn't until I received my new cam sprocket that I realized how worn the old cam and crankshaft sprockets were (teeth are pointed). Now I'm wondering if I should spend another $70 and buy a new crank sprocket to go along with the new cam sprocket? I hate to delay my engine rebuilding another week while I wait for the part but don't want to do something foolish either.
I probably should have ordered a new crank sprocket when I ordered the cam sprocket but it was $70 bucks and all my engine rebuilding costs are starting to add up!
Thoughts on what to do ???
Thanks,
Bob

Well, in all fairness, I suppose I should update the board as I'm the originator of this lengthy post. While Al's communication could obviously be improved he did make good on his commitment to deliver my seats. And let me tell you, I am very pleased with the results. They look terrific - his quality surpassed my expectation.
It is unfortunate I and many others had to go through all the heartache dealing with Al's unresponsiveness. There is really no excuse for it. While i'm pleased with the results, I will have to think twice before doing business with All again.
I will post pics as soon as I get my digital camera working...

Ok, I searched Al Larson and I get the cat thing now. That is pretty hilarious. Somebody should make Al turn in his man card.
-
guys seriously - find a different post to talk about your lame cats. I'm trying to page Al Larson here...
-
Esty - thanks for the background info on Larson. The sad thing is I had read several negative posts about him but at the same time I read several positive posts. I guess it is the naive side of me that wanted to see the good in a human being.
And to think, I still pull into the driveway each day after work thinking that a box with my seat covers will be sitting on the porch.
Al - I really don't care how long it takes you to build and ship the seats. I'm a patient person in no hurry. All I have ever wanted to know is why haven't you responded to a single email of mine? Have you no respect for the fact that I have sent $520 to a total stranger whom I've never met and who list no address or phone number on his website. I've entrusted you completely and you reward me with zero respect by not responding. To think, I actually was concerned that something bad may have happened to you - thus the reason you couldn't respond. but then when i saw you posting yesterday on the FAQ looking for a diff for your 1600 I realized you are just ignoring me. pardon my french but ...WTF?
-
Al,
Three weeks ago you indicated my seat covers were completed and being shipped. At that time, I sent you full payment via paypal ($520) and I haven't heard a word from you since. Why haven't you responded to any of my 6 or 7 emails over the last 3 weeks? I know you are still alive cause I saw you post yesterday.

Keep it original. Sahara is one of the best colors out there. Do otherwise and you may regret it!!!
