  1. Steve, this is the one website that I visit every single day.  My routine is this, I check the parts for sale page, then I check the discussions page for any new posts that grab my attention. Then at some point in the day I will use the search function to learn about whatever it is that I need help with in reference to my project.  I guess with all that surfing through this website, I end up lurking much more than I post.

One thing that I’ve noticed over the years is that I have switched from visiting this site on my laptop to my iPhone. The fact that I can’t post photos directly from my iPhone has prevented me from posting more content as I go. I have to upload the photos to my laptop and then post from there. I can’t be the only one that has this issue.  With the convenience of instagram and facebook platforms that cater to our mobile devices, maybe that’s an area to consider with the FAQ.

I love this site and have learned a ton from you all, I can definitely give back more than I do and will keep that in mind going forward.

No repair panel I know of for that area, cut out that area from another car or just fill it in with a flat piece of 16 gauge or 14 gauge metal. That’s not a normal place that the cars rust. Somethings sat there wet… I would make a quarter inch plywood panel and cover it with the gray elephant skin vinyl to cover that area after the repair.

That’s what I did and it turned out just fine.

  3. I'm on the long journey of re-assembling my freshly painted 02.  Part of that is trying to refurbish as much of the original trim as possible.  I've found many posts here about freshening up anodized aluminum.  I really like the look of the early grills without the black slats, so I removed the slats and now I'm left with glue residue from 50 years ago.  I'm having a heck of a time removing it from the grills.  How do you guys get your grills to look so good without the slats?  Here is a pic of what I want vs what I have right now.

  4. Same here, also love the look of Rabbit flares.  My 71 just got done with paint and is ready for re-assembly.  Klanter, you are almost to the finish line, hang in there!  Looking sweet so far.  I imagine your are going to put some beefier wheels on that thing.

  5. Hey guys, looking for some help in the Bay Area. I have my 02 over at Andy Schank’s for body and paint. My front end got a love tap at some point in its life and my kidney grill is mangled up pretty good. I just bought a replacement on this forum but it’s shipping from Bulgaria and Andy is asking for a sample grill this week so he can straighten my body lines and ensure a good fit.
Does anyone on here (in the Berkeley area)have a spare kidney grill we can borrow for a few days for fitment purposes?

    Thanks in advance.

  6. Hmmm interesting. I haven’t felt any new vibrations since I installed it but I was wondering if this would end up being something I would have to deal with down the road. I will keep an ear out for that. I guess I figured that E9s would be notorious for vibration issues if this was a design flaw.   Thanks for the input.
