  1. Thanks all,

RE the isolation block. The stock one (that I have) is about 3/4" tall. Will this work with the M30 fuel pump or do I need a different size?

It would seem to me if the fuel rod is shorter, so too should the isolation block?

If you know the part number for the IB, post it please. I found all the other parts.

    Thanks!!!!

  2. OK,

I have a set of weber 40DCOE's complete with manifolds linkage, etc.

Thing is they don't fit with the stock fuel pump.

I read somewhere that you can't use the stock fuel pump with this setup, so my questions are:

    1) What do I need?

    2) Anyone out there have the needed parts?

    Thanks,

    Len

  3. Where does the tension spring for the latch bar get it's tension from?

    I only three possible positions:

    1) Free wheeling - this can't be right.

    2) Under the top sill cover - most tension.

    3) Against the front of the firewall - less tension than #2.

I hope you know what I'm talking about. The latch bar has a tension spring with a pig tail (straight part that extends out from the bar). You can't see it when it's installed as it's under the top sill cover in the middle of the car.

    Thanks,

    Len

  4. Yup,

    Got notifications on....

I have mine installed. It looks fine. The felt part goes up against the window and the flat plastic goes out to the edge of the trim.

Looks like that's the way to do it.

The vent window gasket is just a flat piece of rubber window sweep. I don't have it, nor can I find a part number or something to replace it with.

    The search continues.

  5. OK,

I'm talking about the top of the outside door chrome trim piece. I have my chrome, but the felt and rubber gaskets are shot, gone, done, no good.

I bought these pieces years ago thinking when I got them that they would work, but now that I'm trying to put it together, I'm clueless.

I have my blank chrome piece, one plastic Z looking gasket type piece, and a chrome edged felt piece. Except for my chrome part, the other two pieces are new.

Pictures attached, although they don't really show all the details. But I'm hoping someone has had these parts and can tell me how they go.

If not, then what have you all done to "repair" your top door trim? I think the trim is still a dealer item, but expensive from what I recall.

    Thanks,

    Len

    Questions are:

    1) part numbers 54129734169 and 54129734170 are NLA. What purpose did they provide? Only thing I can see is it provided a surface for the cables to ride on. I'm going to cut some "plastic" and make my own as the originals are lost. Do I need them?

    2) part number 54121837947 and 54121837948 are rubber "covers". I don't have them, but I do have the one that goes in the front. I assume this is what the headliner material is glued to around the front of the roof? Any ideas of what I can do for the "missing pieces" (basically both sides).

    3) In line with question 2 above. Again I assume these pieces are glued UNDER the sunroof channels?

Dang, I wish it wasn't six years ago when I took this thing apart. sigh

    Thanks once more gang,

    Len

  7. I bought a rebuilt engine for my project about 4 years ago. It's been hanging on an engine stand since then.

The flywheel has managed to accumulate a small amount of surface rust on it. I'm thinking it's not a big deal, but though I'd ask the troops.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Len

PS - with luck the engine is going in before the month is out. :)

  8. Seeking opinions on tires for 14" wheels on my 74 - front and rear fenders cut and flaired (typical turbo flairs - not box). Lowered a bit with new springs.

    Can get 195/60 - 14's easily enough - trying to find 205/55 -14's

Should I give up the hunt and go with the 195's or will something else work?

    Thanks,

    Len

  9. There is an electric fan that mounts in front of the radiator in the front grill area. I can't locate any diagram for wiring this puppy up.

I looked at every wiring diagram I could find and non of them show the fan in their drawings. Thing is that my wire harness, recently re-installed, doesn't appear to have any connections for it.

So, is it part of another wiring system (meaning not part of the main harness)? The car had A/C so is it part of the A/C system?

What else, besides horns, gets installed in that space (between the front lights, in front of the radiator, and behind the front grills???

    Thanks for any help.

  10. Started my project about 6 years ago. 1974 2002 sunroof - nothing fancy to start. I'm doint a total "custom" restoration, every bolt removed, acid bath, etc. etc. It's starting to look like a real car again (see photos).

    Q. Interior foam - how do you do it? All the original foam is shot and I have no clue where any of it went anyway. I kept the original "skins" that run up the pillars, and inside front windscreen, etc. but how do you pad it to form?

    Q. Same for headliner. What's under the headliner? It's held up with rods, but is that it? Just hang it up? I refoamed the piece under the roof that the interior dome light is attached to, but that's it.

    Q. I bought new flush front side lights. These lights only have ONE connector and the origingal "bug" side lights have two. Do the newer one's only need one wire? What do I do with the extra wire?

    Q. I have seen several posts about the wire harness. I re-wrapped mine with plain old electrical tape and have it strung front to back, with a mess of wires under the dash.. I don't have a model car to see where everything goes so I'm just going to have to take it slow. Unless there is an easier way?

    Q. Fuse box.. I think I got the thing plugged in properly, but if not and I apply power to it, what if any harm can come of it if it's not plugged properly?

    Thanks,

    Len

  11. I've heard that a stock brake booster from a 2002 (non tii) may get in the way of a dual weber 40 carb setup.

I'm close to putting in my rebuilt engine and with the above setup and would rather avoid the issue if it is one before hand.

Anyone out there with some photos of this arrangement, or should I try to get a tii booster for more room????

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Len

  12. Has anyone installed any of the dashboard skin covers?

If so, easy to do, hard to do, worth it, etc?

Just trying to establish a course of action to fix my dash before it goes back in the car. It only has a few minor cracks and is in fairly good shape other than that.

    Any suggestions on approach?

    Thanks,

    Len

  13. Got new door brakes and new rivets that attach to the body. Two questions:

    1) when bolting the door brake to the door itself, were there washers used or just bolts through the door into the brake itself?

    2) The rivets are round on one end and have are straight on the other end and are hollow for about 1/8 of an inch or so. How are these attached to the body frame so they don't come out??? Just bend the hollow end after they are in place, or is there some special tool to put these on???

    Thanks,

    Len

  14. I just installed (re-installed) the wire harness after 6 years from it's removal. And of course in the process managed to lose the notes of what went where. So guys, get ready for a number of posts as I'm at the mercy of the '02 Gods.

My car is a 1974 2002 - that's it - not tii or turbo - good old boy.

Here's my current questions (more to come I'm sure)....

On the left side of the engine compartment to the left of the voltage regulator is a bank of four (4) relay connector bays. My harness has three, and then the diagnostic connector (which has it's own seat). What are the relays that go in these three locations? (see picture). I think the one closest to the front (right) is for the horns?

Question two, as you stand on the driver side and look down at the fuse box, there are twelve fuses. I know they are numbered 1 to 12 but how does the ordering go? From the lower left up in a clockwise or some other order? (see other photo - I think I got it right).

    Thanks all.

  15. UGH,

I found the door metal piece and have new rubber for the doors - that's good to go.

Regarding the rear vent windows. I have new rubber as well, but the part that is mucking with me is this:

There is the rubber piece that the cotter pins go through. This piece wraps around the edge of the glass and is held in place with a metal part (which I have). Cotter pins go through all of it making a nice ridged edge supported by this metal brace. It looks like this piece has three short screws that go into what?? I'm having a hard time figuring out how the "hindge" (by hindge I mean the braced part of the glass on the pillar) works???

Am I missing another piece that is actually like a piano hindge, or does this assmbly just attach to the rubber???

    UGH

    Thanks,

    Len
