  1. OK, here's a picture.

    A) connector colors in that connector are grey/white, green/white, blue/white - I've no clue what plugs into it

    B) connector colors in that connector are brown/red, brown/green, and red/white - I've no clue what plugs into it

    C) the famous horn harness connector... two wires red and black, no clue where it plugs in or what plugs into it...

Anyone have any ideas what hooks up to what in these three connectors. BTW - the car is 1974 2002 with air conditioning.... everything works in terms of lights, stop lights, wipers, blinkers, hazzard, interior dome, temp, tach, e-brake, etc. etc...

Only noticable item not working is the horn... which isn't a real surprise when I see the harness connector just flapping in the breeze...

    UGH

    Thanks,

    Len

  2. I give up... does anyone know where the horn harness (I'm talking about the harness that is mounted in the steering wheel - it has two wires hooked up to a ring that goes down the column to ?????)

I don't see anything that it plugs into. Tired to follow the wire diagram, but it don't really help much....

    Thanks,

    Len

  3. Let me start by saying I'm only a wrench turner, so don't go technical on me.

    I have a 1974, with dual 40 DCOE's. Car ran fine until....

I tried to "adjust" the carburators. There appear to be only TWO adjustments on the carbs (that you can adjust with a screwdriver - I'm not talking about chokes or any other "internals").... The 40's are the old style, not 151's. Looks like just the idle adjustment and then the air mixture are really the only two adjustment you can make.

I had the thing running rough at idle, so I was mucking with the air/fuel adjustments, and the idle adjustments.

Somewhere along the line, I lost power alltogether, and now I can't even start the car.

    Q. The idle adjustments at this point are fully out... meaning they are not making any impact on the idle settings. That screw only appears to move the throttle idle up or down... It doesn't do anything else - does it?

    Q. I've tried settting the air/fuel screw to 1/2, 3/4, 1, 1.5, and 2 turns (each) cylinder... and no matter what I can't get the car to start.

Timing is "shotgunned"... meaning it's not right on, but close enough to fire the plugs (this I verified)...

How easy / hard is it to get the carbs so wacky that they would cause me to have a hard time starting the car?

Once in a while the thing will fire for about three or four revolutions, but if I try to give it any gas she stalls, same if I don't give it any gas.

BTW - I'm using a 3.0 mech fuel pump, not the stock 02.

Any suggestions at this point would be welcomed. I've recharged my battery about 5 times already.....

    Thanks,

    Len

  4. PO had mounted speakers in the doors, so my panels in decent shape are however cut..... :(

I replaced both doors as they were badly rusted out - gosh I wonder why? Anyway, I already drilled out new speaker holes in the doors and will mount the speakers in the doors - so not to have to deal with the panels...

So for you all that have door speakers, how / where do you run the speaker wires so they don't get cut and so they are hidden???

    Thanks, Len

  6. I have the same two black wires running up towards the distributor. One for sure terminates at the testing plug near the fuse box (position 9) which is for a remote tach.

The other black wire, I will assume, runs to the tach itself. Easy enough to test put or pull it off the dissy and watch the results on the tach..

  7. It attaches to the right side of the e-brake Handle frame (there should be a screw hole there) and is adjustable back and forth.

I have a 74 square light... I've looked all over on the frame for the e-brake and don't see anywhere the switch would attach...

Picture attached of both sides... what am I missing?

  8. 1974 2002, manual transmission, AC, nothing else of any interest.

Carpet is ready to go in, but before I do that.... on the driver side there are two connectors for the seatbelt warning wiring, but then there is one more wire that comes out of the harness that I don't know.

Anyone know what that wire is for? It's brown with green stripe. The passenger side only has the two connectors for the seat and the seatbelt.

    See photo.

    Thanks,

    Len
