Tour of the Collection 21 Automobile Museum (Erlanger, KY)

I just discovered this museum in northern Kentucky. It is a private collection of over 200 American automobiles. Visitors are encouraged to donate $15 to HONK (Housing Opportunities of Northern Kentucky) We can tour the place and have lunch together afterwards nearby. Obviously drive your BMW if at all possible.

That is a LARGE collection of automobiles and trucks! I was astonished at how many were on display. There was everything from a 1903 curved dash Oldsmobile to a truly hideous 1980s Stutz. There were a large number of Cadillacs, Model A Fords and Corvettes and then just a very wide array of American cars: Packards, Studebakers, Pierce-Arrows, Hudsons, Hupmobiles, Maxwells, Franklins, Auburns, Cords, and of course Fords, Mopars, and the whole range of GM products. Attending were: myself, Larry Gray, Nick Mavridoglou and his father, Larry Platt and Mike Self. In honor of Nick and his dad, Mike and I had lunch at the nearby restaurant: "It's Greek to Me." I recommend checking it out sometime, it was definitely worthwhile.

An outstanding collection--and besides the cars on display, we could wander around in the warehouse where there were even more vehicles--cars as well as some early (teens and 20s) and very cool trucks. And...four of my all-time favorite antique car: Cord 810/812: a Sportsman convertible, two Beverly (hump trunk) and a Berline (flat trunk) sedans. And a Hupp Skylark: a Cord body from the firewall back re-engineered to fit on a Hupmobile frame with a Hupp engine/drivetrain.

Perhaps our next outing should be the Model T museum in Richmond IN...
