So here is the before and afters of the framerail!

I cringe at the looks of it from before!

But the masterwelder cleaned it up like new and we are off to body work and paint!

Getting excited!!!

Wow,  it look like this will be a very extensive restoration.  I had a 73tii that was rusted just like that and I always feared it would just give away someday going over a rough bump in the road.  I certainly hope it makes it to the swap and show this May :)

Great job on the frame rail.  I too have to fix or replace mine on my 72'. But with this Canadian weather - its so damn cold to tackle it right now. So i'm spending my time researching how I'm going to approach it.

I'm just trying to figure out how I'm going to keep my car up when I remove my frame rail (since I always used to hold up my front with jacks on my frame rail).  Hopefully someone may offer some advice.

Hey there Miguel! I unfortunately do not have the measurements of the frame rail, however, if yours are rusted out, the frame rails are still available through BMW. In this way, you can replace the frame rails without having to do all the work like I did. It would probably save you a little money by just replacing them too! Hope this can give you some insight. Throw up some pics of your frame rail on the 02 thread! It would be great to see the work on your 1602
