    Hey, Steve,

     

    The challenge you’re going to have in finding the original block is that many (perhaps most) of the engines being swapped for factory-reconditioned engines were shipped back to the factory. You received a substantial rebate if you gave them a rebuildable “core” in exchange for the reconditioned engine. And that core engine immediately had its engine number ground off, as part of the reconditioning process....

     

    So your car’s engine could be a neighbor’s tii, but you won’t know it!
