My records are showing a manufacturing date of January 29, 1973 and a legal-transfer-to-Hoffman Motors date of February 16, 1973 for this car. Could the present manufacturing date of January 3, 1973 be a typo?

Probably...I have a letter from BMW somewhere in the files and it may authenticate the 29th. I’ll check

Most of the Archives data I have comes from postings on the forum, eBay, BAT, etc., so I suspect my information for your car originated with either you or a prior owner/seller.

I sort of "police" the Registry, looking for manufacturing dates that don't fit the expected pattern. I'm especially solicitous of the tii listings (as a tii owner) and I'm starting to see, from the Registry, that the survival of tii's is particularly impressive!  There was an earlier tii registry (which expanded to all '02's), started long before the forum was even begun, but its contents were sadly abandoned -- and it was frankly amateurish and inadequate, but it was something.
