Geoff Raynak 405 Posted March 24, 2021 Share this comment beauty car! but IMO that looks quite 'Nevada' colored (near and dear to my heart) I had 1569746 ... 1969 1602 Nevada ... ONLY THREE CARS were in between these two ... 1569746 is now in Virginia
dukepol 12 Posted March 24, 2021 Share this comment Thanks. This was in Santa Fe for years. I just bought from a guy I met selling him parts for a 1974 2002 he restored years ago. I told him if he ever decided to sell it let me know. He call me and I picked up Feb 21st. All the wiring from fuse box to dash fried years ago. He parked in garage for years. I spent last month replacing all the burned wires. Just got it running and all the electrical problems fixed. Still need to install dash and door panels. Installed 14 inch wheels and driving lights last weekend and drove it to get emissions test on Monday. Ready to roll.
dukepol 12 Posted March 24, 2021 Share this comment Could be Nevada. No paint code sticker and I have never had either of those colors in the past so I figured it was Sahara.
Geoff Raynak 405 Posted March 24, 2021 Share this comment either way it is a beautiful car! check with BMW archives for details ... but i'm guessing this is a July 69 build ... so may actually be a 69 YOM car enjoy it!
dukepol 12 Posted March 24, 2021 Share this comment Yes On date as best I could figure out. Built July 69 titled as a 70 Thanks. Have a great rest of your week. Going out with buddies this weekend 73 Porsche 914, 69 1600 Touring and a 70’s E9 or his 74 2002

Simply agreeing with Geoff. The 1970 model year for U.S.-spec 1600-2’s begins with VIN 1570001. This is a 1969 model year car, titled as a 1970 — a fairly common registration error, easy to rectify in some states, difficult to rectify in other states (and probably not worth the trouble). BMW Group Archives can verify the specific manufacturing date (but not model year, as they keep their manual records simply on a calendar year basis) and factory color. Send an email with the VIN, requesting the car’s data, to: info.grouparchiv@bmwgroup.com Regards, Steve
