Hi Mike,
It's Slavs. Now, I'm here as "Zak", in honor of Zakhar Artyomovich Sorokin. He was the Soviet Union's Douglas Bader. I only mention this because you were a military man. You can "Google" him, if you like.
They blocked my other profile because they didn't like the way I was playing "Steering Wheels". I really rub them the wrong way when I start talking about the Petri steering wheels I used to find at salvage yards on VW sciroccos. I passed them on to BMW shops who just added a BMW horn button and hub and sold them at a huge mark-up to their customers, mostly coupe owners. However, before they booted me I provided some detailed info on the 1968 "Bus"steering wheel.
I'm aware this info helps this website which is run by an A-hole, in my opinion. But I still provide it for the rest. It's not all about one person.
The pics below are of the factory installed Petri wheel on the 75-76 Scirocco and Zakhar Artyomivich Sorokin standing next to his Mig-3 high altitude interceptor.
