  1. Hi, I have 185/70 R13 on my 76 with no issues. They are mounted on ENKEI Apache V wheels. Frank
  2. Lol.... Thx for the heads up! I will start spraying with pentrating oil a few weeks before attempting. I will have the wife hide my 4 wheeler keys before I start. 😎 Frank
  3. Thanks Everyone for all the good advice! I,m feeling very confident that with the guidance above I will be successful. Frank
  4. Hi, Is there any good tricks or shortcuts when replacing the emergency break cables on a 76 2002? Do I really have to pull the rear half axil's? Thanks Frank
  5. I made a piece of wood trim with strong magnets in it (no screws required) to hold up my headliner. I stained it to match my steering wheel In stead of cutting it I just tucked it under its self. I know it's not perfect but it sure is an improvement! Frank 20231007_121533.mp4
  6. Another thing I learned is you can bend the oil tube to better center on the oil pump bore. Just put a bar into the tube and move it where you need to!
  7. Hi everyone, I just got done rebuilding the oil pump and checking the main and rod bearings and here are the results: Checked rod looseness with a dial indicator and all looked well ( only .0015 movement). Pulled off 1 rod and 3 main caps (not the thrust bearing one) and all looked good. Put in new pressure relief piston, spring, sprocket, o-ring fram oil filter with check valve and 10w40 oil. Had to do a light hone on the pressure relief bore with 600 emery to get piston to move freely. Had to shim pump so chain would not hit it. Also cleaned pump pick up. Motor now starts without knocking and. Oil light goes out in under a second. I was able to Pull the pan with the motor in car but had to jack it up about 1-1/4" and remove the sprocket then dropped the pump into pan before it would pull out or go back in. Putting the pump back in with the new o ring was Challenging but after tearing 2 O-rings went from oil lube to grease and just went 1/4 turn on the bolts and wiggining the tube until it popped in (glad I ordered 4 o-rings)! Used blue loc tite on the sprocket nut. Hope my experience helps someone else with simular problems! Frank
  8. Thanks for the heads up. I'm planing to pull the pan in the car, do rod and main bearings rebuild the oil pump pressure relief and replace the oil pump end of the tube you pointed out. Frank
  9. Thanks Mike, I agree with your oil pump prognosis. I just planning to go thru my pumps relief valve assembly due to the fact that my engine takes a couple of seconds longer than it should to turn off the oil light. Frank
  10. Thanks Everyone! I just ordered everything to rebuild from FCP Euro. Frank
  11. Wow, What an awsome breakdown! Thanks!
  12. Thanks Tzei, I will dig into that tomorrow. I'm so grateful to everyone here for supplying me new contacts and info! Frank
  13. Ok thx, I hit send and then rechecked it about 1 min later and saw that the send was still bold so I hit it again....my bad. Thx again for the info! Frank
  14. Thanks Mark, I will try those tomorrow. What is a double post? Frank
  15. Hi Everyone, I need to rebuild my 1974 M10 oil pump and would like to find the parts below...... pressure relief valve spring and seal, wear plate for the vane. Any ideas of pn's or vendors who may have these? Any and all advise is welcome. This seems like a hot topic! Thanks Frank

  17. Thanks for the breakdown! I'm new to the M10 engine. If I drop the pan is it difficult to do the oil pump o rings? Frank
  18. Hi, The motor takes about 5 seconds to pressurize. Frank
  19. Hi Tech, I'm using 20w 50 from Castrol. A person I spoke on the phone who recommended a different oil filter, Fram xg3614. He said it has a check valve and will help the oil pump hold prime. I was also thinking about trying Lucas oil stabilizer (it has done wonders in my old trucks worn out 283). Maybe will help me get another season on the M10 about 3k miles. Frank
  20. Toby, What a great explanation of engine bearings! Tech71, thanks for the tensioner cleaning instructions! Frank
  21. Thanks for the reply, The oil light does not flicker. Has anyone put rod bearings in without pulling the motor? Frank
  22. Hi everyone, A gentleman at one of the shows who was a BMW mechanic in the 70's told me to suspect the timing chain tensioner for my knocking that goes away in seconds once oil system is pressurized. He told me to clean it, but could not remember what that entails. It What does that mean ? Thanks again Frank
  23. Thanks, I welcome any input! At the end of the day if I decide to take this I will just move the top chain gear until I line up with the oil tube. Then spin it by hand to make sure valves and pistons clear. Then give it a try.... Frank
