  1. I know you're talking about 2002 rubber mats, but if you know of anyone able to reproduce BMW rubber mats I would like to do a set for the e12/e28 models... I have a sample.
  2. Will check them out, thank you very much for your help here...
  3. Interesting detail about the Polish company, I will try to find it... I did find these other guys, though I do not know where they are located: https://www.classiceuroparts.com/product/rear-wheel-arch-quarter-panel-rust-repair-metal-panel-set-lr-for-bmw-e12/ I have purchased some stuff from kapteijnclassicparts.nl many years ago... They just changed their name for some reason, but do have some interesting stuff...
  4. I just got some photos, but the guy will take some from the underside tomorrow... It looks like the lower wheel arch here has been reworked... Rocker panel could have bondo also... Not looking very good... Trouble is finding these new parts now, or anyone that reproduces them... Shock tower looks a little suspect also, but it could be a shadow in the shot... Moving along, this section with the serial number is never painted... The car is a 15 footer..:) Is it worth exploring further at that price? On the plus side, the seats a redone minus the headrests and there are some parts included in the sale...
  5. Hello Andrew, Lucky you! I wish I could inspect the car myself, since I know these models well... Yet, to the untrained eye, a little attention to detail to the underside of the car can tell you a lot... Underside of gas pedal bracket is a serious telltale of rust, as well as the 4 large factory drain covers, inner frame rails, etc... Then you move inside the trunk, look at the lower windshield corners for problems as well as the bottom of doors, rocker panels, and rear wheel arch area near the bottom... That is pretty much in a nutshell the problem areas of these cars...:) I could let know know depending on how it goes with the seller... I have contacted him and I am awaiting reply... Thanks again, Regards, Philip
  6. Hello Andrew, Thanks for the heads up... It is the real deal indeed, and what a shame that the car has had such a hard life, just look at the carpet! I am sure it has a lot of rust hidden (inner front fenders) trunk, and other areas hidden by the poor paint job... I wish that it was never repainted, one could better assess the car... On top of it does not run (stated reason, fuel problem) to me the real reason might be a head gasket... M90's love to eat them when old or with high mileage... 66,809 KM might as well be 600,000 judging by the condition of the car... Like you said, suspicious... That low mileage does not represent the overall condition of the vehicle...The only bonus appears to be the reupholstered seats...:) I still will inquire and see if I can get any history which might be interesting....
  7. Hello Andrew, Best of luck in your search, you have the advantage to being in Europe where most of these cars reside...
  8. Hello Lars, I have not been to this forum for years (joined in 2015) but have been away involved with other cars (American pre-war) and I am now getting back to what I really, really like (BMW's from the 70's and 80's) while viewing your article about your father's 2002, I couldn't help but notice your friend Mike's "contemporary" tow vehicle, which happens to be my madness!! It so happens that I found my "unicorn" after a 10 year long search (e12 M535i) in Frankfurt, (purchased in 2004) and regrettably, I had to let go for reasons I cannot discuss at the moment in 2010... I have been on a search on and off ever since with no luck, only finding what I consider in my mind a lesser replacement (e28 M535i).... While viewing other articles about seat fabric for Scheel seats and BMW Recaro seats, I came across your post, and I could not help to notice you mentioning that you know one of the cars well... If memory serves me right, this car with the beautiful Motorsport seats was listed on Mobile.de maybe 8 years ago? Could it be the same car.?..Curious if the owner would consider parting with it...:) There were actually 2 being listed, one with a sunroof and one without... The other may have had the standard Recaro seats in black, but I just don't remember well the details... What I am trying to say in a very long story is that if you know any leads regarding a e12 (M535i) for sale in Germany, I would greatly appreciate it... You can email me here: p_jeanneau@hotmail.com Thank you! Best regards, Philip
