  1. I cannot find an answer to this, i searched the forums and google and found nothing really relating to what my problem is. I checked fuse #12 and its good just to put that out there. My engine no matter what gear, or rpm will die in two ways, either when i turn very sharp, or panic breaking. I found i guess a pinpoint or two to try and tackle the brake issue and theres been no luck. The car wont die if its just idling and if you push in the brake pedal hard. I know that was suggested somewhere to see if that made it stall out. Any ideas?
  2. Ive have heard of him from my indy mechanic (Eric Wahl at Bavarian AutoHaus in Arroyo Grande) but it was for a part just one time, i was going to see if he had an ignition lock assembly but Eric provided me a brand new one for a cheap price. Thank you, ill check him out!
  3. San Luis Obispo, California. The closest member i can find is in monterey, but thats on another forum board for me e21. I can always return the favor someway im sure if someone was to give me a hand. and Ok that makes sense, I just wanted to confirm the suspicion i felt i was having about that.
  4. Hey guys, thanks for all the replies, sorry havnt responded in a week, as i finally got the key situation sorted out and now im driving it again. Throughout the drive i noticed theres a load pop noise after letting go of the throttle (flooring it to anything past 4000 and you hear it) somewhere from the back seat, underneath the car? Really only happens on the freeway in 4th gear. Also, if you slam on the brakes, or brake hard to come to a quick halt, the car dies instantly? Included in post i believe is a picture of my carb. I simply have no excuses besides i think its in the picture? LOL. I have yet to diagnose the choke, but pretty much as soon as its been drivin aroound for 5 or so minutes itll idle at and bounce between 800-1000 at a red light in neutral. If just started tho, it goes between 3-800 no matter if it was just turned off, on, has been running all day, etc. Last and final thing i can note before i await some advice, is When it first fires up it runs and idles at 1500.
  5. wow, i cant believe i forgot to mention the carb let alone the year. weber carb, 1976 2002. Should be automatic choke correct? I know the idea of carbs/choke, i used to work on atvs/dunebuggies a lot for a company i worked for. I dont have the extensive knowedlege, but i do have some education upon them.
  6. and at 20 years old i have none of it! Hello guys, my name is Andrew and im new to the 2002 forum and world. For the past year ive been looking/dreaming into buying a 2002. This is my third purchase, as ive owned an e60 for a year and a half and an e21 since october. some of you may know me from the bimmerforums e21 section.. So anyways, thought id give you guys a little hello instead of being a stranger. I finally completed my mission into buying a 2002 3 weeks ago. With irrational and dumb decisions hence the subject name, im here for some help. After test driving thie 2002 at 9pm at night, all seemed well right? After handing over the cash and receiving the title all the nonsense began. I named her lucipher, after my horrid stepmom luci, and someone else. Well after restarting the car the idle was crap and the guy refused to give me back the money. So after a stressful drive home and noting every single thing wrong about the car instead of enjoying the drive home. to getting home at 5 am to waking up at 9 to drive to my mechanics to have the key break on me i sit here with these issues. Car runs AWESOME when cold, and drives well. but after stopping it and turning it off, once you turn it back on within 3 hours (warm engine) its idle bounces between 2-500 and wants to die. I had the same issue with my e21, but it was the warm up regulator. Does anyone know what this can be? Carb related im assuming? Ill post the other issues later, as im running out of time. Thanks for reading and all the help or advice. andrew
