    In the basic photo editor that's on my computer, I go up to the top and click crop, then select square as the format.  Put it around the part I like best and then crop it there.  Then I go to "Properties" in the tool bar, click that and hit "resize" after that.  Then it asks what I want the max dimension to be and I type in 250 pixels.  That is the max dimension for an avatar image and gives the best resolution of the image.

     

    There is a step when adding the image where you pull out the corners, to crop/center it for the avatar.


    I think it is fun.

      Thanks Tom,

      I been struggling to figure out how to make a digital picture small emuf to use as profile photo.  Everything I did made the file size larger.  I finally just put the cropping square where it looked best and went with it.  0.15 MB isn't much to work with.
