but, where are the ecu and fuel pump relays? one green should go to coil, one green should go to the trigger for the ecu/main power relay and the fuel pump relay. do not run ecu and fuel pump directly off the ignition green.
even without these connected, when you go to "start", the solenoid should at least engage the starter. if it does not, you could have an ignition switch problem.
Thank you Mlytle,
The MS3 is on the side and I am not going to touch it until I get it sorted on the standard setup.
The ecu and fuel pump relays are on the bottom of photo E, they are there, I just did not get a photo of them.
I only have one green in the e30 harness, at least only one solid green, I keep hearing about these 2 greens but in the e30 wiring harness there is only one solid green

Morfyia,
Great idea! I will check that.
Peterschop,
Thank you!

Hello,
Yes, have the engine wiring harness and the entire body hardness out of the E30, not sure why he included it but I have not intention of transhing it until I know I have everything.
I keep hearing about this 'bundle of red wires', are they referring to those 2 reds or is there a bundle like the brown ones?

Hello Gofasster,
The story on the car is that it was a failed project by someone in NM. It has a nice clean M20 engine with a turbo, 42lb fuel injectors, 5-speed, upgraded LSD, and a MegaSquirt 3. They cut way to much off the car, sanded it from the original Silver, which I will paint back on, and left it in elements to rust.
He was trying to get $3,700 for the car and I was able to pick it up for $900, I sold off the fender flares for $450 so I am only $450 into the car.
I would really love to get it up and running, hide all of the wiring in the engine bay, like a hot rod, and make it a very clean little car.
They only hangup is the wireing, as soon as I get that sorted, the rest should be a breeze.
After this, I would really like to get a nice Roundie as a daily driver.
Matt

Toby,
Thank you very much for taking the time to give me some pointers! I truely appreciate it, I have about 10 hours into just trying to figure this out and it is very confusing.
The car is a failed project from another member, and this is the first 2002 I have gotten my hands on so I am not sure what should be there to begin with.
I have taken some photos this morning and posted them below. I do not see another fuse box except the one on the driver side of the engine compartment, can you take a quick look and let me know if there is one missing. Also, where would the red wires go? I found 2 of them but one goes to the front of the engine then is cut off and the other looks like it goes to the old starter. I believe that the group of brown wires is in the photo, I will just need to ground that.
I seriously appreciate your help and would be happy to paypal you cash for any assistence you could provide.
I hope your day is going well,
Matt

Hello,
I am a very amature person trying this swap out, any 'lamens terms' would be appreciated.
I am trying to follow the M20 conversion for dummies guide.
I have...
#1 Blue____________blue from voltage regulator___Alternator___back of alternator, or B+ terminal
#6 Green___________Green____________________Ecu power___Coil
#7 Green___________Same Green wire as above___Coil Power
#18 Black/Yellow_____Black 10g_________________Starter...connected, but when I turn the key it does not turn the starter.
I have the connector plugged into the e30 harness and the computer plugged in.
I am able to use a small wire and get the starter to crank by touching it to the solenoid and the positive connection on the starter.
I am not sure what to do next, when I put the key in and turn it nothing happens, no lights, no noise, nothing.
Any ideas of what I am doing wrong?
Thank you,

Did he ever make them? I would like a set
-
Oh come on! Next your going to try to tell me that exhaust isn't stock!
HAHA, its totally stock... yours does not look like that?
-
Pretty sure that is a factory color.
The tires on the other hand fit without a flare because it was 'tubbed'
I do agree, any car enjoyed is better than one rusting in a field

-
I have the regular computer too, I hope to get it running with the stock system then figure out the MS.
-
I am not familiar with the term "MS", what is that?
MegaSquirt?
-
So did I, I was pleased to see that they were not cut!

I pulled all the fenders off. I plan on using the turbo body kit, 1.5" drop and either BBS or Alpina wheels, I have not decided.
There is quite a bit of 'surface' rust but looks like it would come off quickly.
I need a mechanic to help finish the driveline then I can jump on the body.
I hope to have it running and painted by the end of November.
Attached is its current condition.

Ha! That is how I felt.

Hello,
Yeah, it's that one. Picked it up for $900.
Removed the fenders and am sitting in my driveway sorting the parts. Seems pretty complete except some minor parts.
Hoping to get a mechanic to get it up and running so I can enjoy it while I complete if.

Oh, and I also have a megasquirt 3 and the original computer from the M20

Hello,
I have a 1975 2002, it has a 1989 M20 installed with the attached 5 speed.
It has a t4/t5 turbo partially installed and all of the parts to complete, I was told.
Here is the original description from the seller:
Engine is out of a 1989 325i with 100k miles on it. New Bosch 42lb hr (Green Giant) fuel injectors installed. . T3/T4 turbo max power 350hp-400hp, polished stainless steel turbo manifold with 38mm waste gate w/ 7psi, 11psi & 15psi springs, blow off valve, boost controller, 28"x8"x2.5" intercooler, polished aluminum intercooler pipe w/ silicon couplers. Aluminum radiator. Corbeau bucket seats. New clutch slave cyl. & throwout bearing.
I am in Phoenix and would like to have a shop or garage builder help me to complete it.
The project will be documented and the story will be posted in a magazine and the magazines website.
Thank you,
Matt

Hello,
I bought a car and removed the body kit that was riveted on.
The parts are perfect and ready for paint, please review photos.
I am asking for $450 plus shipping.

I just bought it, not a big fan of the body kit, if he didnt cut the fenders I may pull them off an add the turbo flares.
I have not seen it yet, I hope it is all there.

Hello,
The M20 harness was connected to the fuse box and I cut it off yesterday so it should be fine. I have 2 greens that come off the c101 connector one is solid and one has a tracer.
If you happen to be in AZ for the weekend stop by :-))
