  1. I looked at this car yesterday. Except for the low compression (@110 on all four cylinders) and lousy leakdown numbers (20-35) the car runs great! Except for the rust inside the entire lip of the trunk and hood, this car is absolutely rust free! Forget the six or eight odds and ends that need attention. Lights, horn, etc. It seemed low on power on my test ride (was not offered a test drive) but, what do I know? It's been thirty years since I last drove a 2002 regularly.

The seller assured me before I made the four hour trip, the car needed absolutely nothing and ran like a top. In addition, it was dry and absolutely rust free. Must be since he wants $11.5 large. After I gave him the good news re the PPI, he acquiesced, and reduced his price to $9k. After all, it's at least a twelve year old Korman rebuild! With mismatched twin Webers!

My advice is rush right over to Greensboro where you can buy a $5k 2002 for $9k! Talk to the the seller, or, listen, since your not likely to get a word in.

Trying to find a car is like having a second job! Now if I can only get the dealer in Atlanta to call me back, I may be able to trade one misery for another.

    I hope there's a lesson here for 2002 owner wanna be's. I feel a little better.

  2. I have coin of the realm, legal tender, cashola, a truck, and a trailer. I'd rather stay on the East Coast, but, I will travel for the right car and the right deal. I'll ship a car, if I must.

Round tail light, manual, Golf, Inka, Verona, or any blue except Fjord.

Start those cards and letters! Pics too!

  3. Must have:

daily driver with minimal rust. If it has holes in it, I'm probably not interested.

1973 or older. I do not want a square tail light car.

    Must be manual transmission.

Strongly preferred: East coast car. I'm in Virginia. AC (Or, how hard is it to install AC in a non AC car?). Stock body, original look. Original interior. Color: Inka or Golf. Others colors considered.

I sold my 1971 in 1980, about time for another 2002. Budget is negotiable.

  4. Qualified, meaning you know what to look for, especially in terms of the body--rockers, shock towers, undercarriage, spare tire well etc. Of course, I'd like as much detail as possible. Pictures would be great. I don't expect you to do it for nothing---I have beer.

The car I'm interested in has a parts car that goes with it. Maybe we can work something out.
