  1. Good Morning from Poland,

When evaluating my question and providing an answer (hopefully), please keep in mind:

    - I have not owned my 2002 for long

    - I am not the most mechanically inclined guy in the world and routinely contribute to the retirement funds of those who are

    The question:

I have a 1970 2002. The previous owner, replaced the stock carb with two Solex carbs (I guess to make it more Ti like). When the car is warm, it runs super and I have little problems with restarts. The problem that I have is starting as there is no choke. So, I am turning to the Forum for advice as to what I should do as it has been almost 25 years since I have had a car with a carb and even then, it was only one carb. I know that the obvious answer is "get a choke". As I do not speak Polish and have not yet found a mechanic here who will also order parts, I must find the choke myself and then take it to the mechanic and hope that the translator is translating correctly and that the mechanic understands. So what I need help with is a suggestion as what I need to search out in order to get a choke on the car. Sorry if my question is such a newbie and non-mechanically inclined question.

  2. Hello All,

I have a 1970 2002. The previous owner modified the car by removing the stock single carb and replacing with twin Solex Carbs. The carbs are currently tuned and synchronized great. Only problem is that there is no choke, so starting is difficult. Any suggestions as to what I need?

  3. Hello All!

I have a 1970 European specs 2002 and need some help with the seat belts. I really want to know what right looks like as I am almost 100% sure that what I have now is not right at all. I believe that the previous owner created a seat belt solution for the driver and front passenger that is pretty terrible to use and is probably unsafe. I would like to correct the issue, if I can. Basically, it appears to me that I have seat belts that are installed backwards. I will attach photos so you can see as I am not sure that I can describe it. I would be interested in any photos that others may have of seat belts that are installed properly so I can get an idea of whether or not I will have gaping holes in the side panels of the interior when I install seat belts correctly. Also if anyone has an idea where I can get seat belts for a 1970 2002, I would appreciate your insight.

This is how the seat belt is connected in the car. I think that this portion is normally attached near the base of the seat at the floor.

  4. Okay, I guess I cannot upload a photo to the board without it already being resident on another website. Super. This is too bad as I was going to post today about different issue and photos are absolutely needed to explain my issue. So now I am wondering if anyone out there has advice about where to post the photos so I can then link them into a post on this forum? I am a guy who is not internet savvy nor has the time to be so. Any advice?

  5. Thanks for the advice, I see that he has a lot of nice knobs. I am sure that I will find something there.

Just in case someone on the forum has one, I am uploading a photos of the steering wheel. I guess my memory failed me, it is not as light as I thought. In my my mind it was much lighter, perhaps because of the contrast between the dark interior and the wheel. As you can see it is more of a golden color. So now that there are photos, does anyone have anything close?[/img]

  6. Hi, I am looking for a wood shift knob to fit my 1970 2002. Need it to be light colored wood to come close to matching my maple steering wheel. Would be great if it had the BMW logo on top. If anyone knows where I can find such an item or if you have one for sale, please let me know.

    Thanks!
