I just unscrewed the the red portion, (the button) and then depressed the bulb until it catches, It has more lateral movement when the button is removed and will usually catch, then just used a paper shim to put the red button back in. It was free

I need a rear bumper strip for 73 bumper (long ends)

Ditto on the ammeter ditch in favor of the volt meter, I too had one that merely covered the hole (never wired up) Recently replaced it with a volt meter while I had the console apart for another problem.
