  1. Thanks everyone for your input. I will try to get one of those gasket sealers at my local parts store.
  2. Hello 2002Faqrs, Any suggestions on certain engine gasket sealers to use with the upper timing cover that's below the valve cover? I used the yellowish colored Hi-Tack to hold the gasket onto the timing cover and put a pea size drop of black gasket sealant at the bottom edges where the upper timing cover contacts the lower timing cover. I confirmed the leak coming out between the valve cover and timing cover but not sure if I should put sealant anywhere on the valve cover side. any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. thanks
  3. Thanks everyone for your responses. I finally got a hold of an e12 head. Hopefully it checks out okay from my machinist. You guys should check him out. He's in San Mateo. His name is Steve from Cardelli Motorsports.
  4. Thanks Ken. I will keep you in mind if it doesn't work out with the leads I have here locally.
  5. Thanks for your response. Good minds think alike! There's a machine shop in Berkeley that has one all ready to go. I also have a few leads so I'm still debating on which way to go.
  6. Thanks for your response. Yeah I have a few leads already price ranging from $250 and up. I called Berkeley Motor Wrecking and it looks like it's closed. It's now a wheelchair repair facility. The other gentleman in San Rafael isn't answering his phone. I'm actually in a crunch so I may just bite the bullet and buy it locally. I need to complete this car by Friday since I'll be out of town by next week.
  7. I have for sale a pair of front seats out of my 1974 2002. The driver side seat springs are worn but the passenger side is in good condition. Not sure if they were rebuilt before. These are a decent pair of seats for a daily driver car or if someone is looking for a set to rebuild. $30 http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/pts/2909411197.html
  8. Need rebuildable e12 head as mine is too warped to machine. Please contact me asap. thanks David
  9. I recently installed a 320i 5 speed in my o2. It seems like in between changing the seals on the output flange and the main shifter rod, I must of damaged something or removed a detent ball. I am able to shift into upward gears ( i think it's 1st, 3rd, and 5th) but don't have that positive fell like when I shift downwards (2nd and 4th). I am definitely not engaged because when I release the clutch pedal the rear tires don't spin and when I forcefully try to shift in the gears I hear a grinding noise. I have the car on jack stands so there is no load on the rear tires. The transmission engages in 2nd and 4th; the tires do spin in those gears. I just disassembled the shifter and parts connected to the main rod that goes internally in the transmission. If I push the rod in and try to spin the driveshaft, I can't since the gears are engaged but when I pull the rod out and do the same I hear a clicking noise as if something is not meshing completely inside of the transmission. Hopefully I did not chew something up while I was zapping off and zapping on the output flange nut with my impact gun. Any ideas as to what I should do? At this point I'm temped to remove the rear casing of the transmission to see if I damaged anything while removing the output flange nut. I might just remove the whole trans just to make it easier on my back. Any suggestions I would greatly appreciate. Does anyone have an exploded diagram view of the 320i 5 speed that is usually in the service repair manuals?
