  1. if all you did was melt the rubber out, then yes. there should still be a sleeve in there that has to come out. the stock bushings were pressed in with the sleeve attached to the rubber part.

take a hack saw and put the blade in the hole. carefully cut through the sleeve. that will give you enough room to "shrink" the sleeve and free it from the trailing arm.

  2. 02 epidemic is one thing, but once hit a track in a bmw, you are doomed. it is no longer a slippery slope...you go off a fun and financial cliff. enjoy the madness. i was committed to the institution a long, long time ago.....

  3. Thanks Jim. the twinmax seems to be the darling of the bmw motorcycle community. my brother has one for his k75s, but he lives in seattle so it is a bit harder to hop over and grab it out of his garage! didn't know if folks had had luck with it on cars.

i may call you about yours....at least i can get an idea of where the car is at..after i get the radiator replaced!

  4. let the mods begin! i need to start stocking up the parts..

    hmmm..phase one..

    ground control suspension

    poly bushings everywhere

    i.e. swaybars

    i.e. radiator

    phase two

    brake upgrade

    phase three

    then comes the engine stuff..

Heyyyyy. Who's project blog is this any wayyyyy. ??

I want to get springs as well. If nothing else, remove the spacers.

LOL! just sharing wish lists for the "twins"...

  5. oil temp

    water temp

    oil pressure

the common denominator is they are key immediate engine health indicators. they need to be in plain sight of driver to be really useful. the center console location unfortunately leaves them out of visibility.

guages like the SPA digital ones are nice because you can program them to trip a warning light up on the dash somewhere to highlight an issue.

maybe fuel pressure as a fourth, but that is more critical on a fuel injected engine.

never understood why you would need a voltmeter, unless you need a cheap, easy guage to fill a hole. if any electrical measurement was to be made, most useful would be amps, but bmw already put a warning light on cluster for that.

  6. I did some math. At 150 the car will have the same weight to HP ratio as the e30 m3, and ...... even the e36 m3. woot. 150 is a realistic goal, with the right rear end it will get a great 0-60 time. :) thats my goal

your math did not take into account torque. in a straight line an e36 m3 will dust an 2002 with only 150hp. e30 m3 would too.

acceleration is irrelevant anyway....it is all about turning and braking!
