do any of the vendors sell "kits" that include all those regular wear parts? maybe some of the short shift setups include them all?
-
that was fast!

if all you did was melt the rubber out, then yes. there should still be a sleeve in there that has to come out. the stock bushings were pressed in with the sleeve attached to the rubber part.
take a hack saw and put the blade in the hole. carefully cut through the sleeve. that will give you enough room to "shrink" the sleeve and free it from the trailing arm.

nice!
i agree, hanging on a golf course just doesn't do it for me either. gotta be either working on a car in the shop or driving one on a race track...

my 02 is immobilized in the car trailer. spent some time pulling the radiator and did a compression check on the engine. 60/125/70/115 psi. not good. and so the mechanical restoration begins!

02 epidemic is one thing, but once hit a track in a bmw, you are doomed. it is no longer a slippery slope...you go off a fun and financial cliff. enjoy the madness. i was committed to the institution a long, long time ago.....

Thanks Jim. the twinmax seems to be the darling of the bmw motorcycle community. my brother has one for his k75s, but he lives in seattle so it is a bit harder to hop over and grab it out of his garage! didn't know if folks had had luck with it on cars.
i may call you about yours....at least i can get an idea of where the car is at..after i get the radiator replaced!

let the mods begin! i need to start stocking up the parts..
hmmm..phase one..
ground control suspension
poly bushings everywhere
i.e. swaybars
i.e. radiator
phase two
brake upgrade
phase three
then comes the engine stuff..
Heyyyyy. Who's project blog is this any wayyyyy. ??
I want to get springs as well. If nothing else, remove the spacers.
LOL! just sharing wish lists for the "twins"...

oil temp
water temp
oil pressure
the common denominator is they are key immediate engine health indicators. they need to be in plain sight of driver to be really useful. the center console location unfortunately leaves them out of visibility.
guages like the SPA digital ones are nice because you can program them to trip a warning light up on the dash somewhere to highlight an issue.
maybe fuel pressure as a fourth, but that is more critical on a fuel injected engine.
never understood why you would need a voltmeter, unless you need a cheap, easy guage to fill a hole. if any electrical measurement was to be made, most useful would be amps, but bmw already put a warning light on cluster for that.

what carb synch tool would be the best to get? the one on the pierce manifold site?
what about this one?

Hey Marshall,
The Rad is the IE Polished Alum version, and as was mentioned, the filters are Lynx Ram-Flos mounted to 90deg airhorns on the sidedrafts.
Rick74 and Harry - looks like we're the schwarz panther 02 brotherhood... ;-)
Tom
thanks tom! time to start looking for the turned up air horns....
-
nice...love the color
thanks! it is an e30 3 series red. 16 year old restoration paint job.
jim - yeah that linkage looks more "interesting" than mine! i like the turned up horns with maybe a lynx filter on them.

visionaut...what radiator and carb air cleaners do you have?

i wonder what the ratio is of considerate people who actually do searches FIRST and then ask questions they don't find answers to, to people who are lazy and depend on others to repeatedly answer the same questions over and over..... :-P

150hp in a well set up 02 is a fun ride. it may not scare you but it will do everything well.
agree! while not ultimately as capable, the 2002 feels lighter, more tossable..fun!
-
I did some math. At 150 the car will have the same weight to HP ratio as the e30 m3, and ...... even the e36 m3. woot. 150 is a realistic goal, with the right rear end it will get a great 0-60 time.
thats my goal
your math did not take into account torque. in a straight line an e36 m3 will dust an 2002 with only 150hp. e30 m3 would too.
acceleration is irrelevant anyway....it is all about turning and braking!

netiquette point..
cross posting the exact same question on multiple forums is a generally accepted no-no.
i would ask here first. i would be shocked if you didn't get answer.

i just bought my 75 from a guy nw of charlotte. have the inspections sheets back for many years. passed every time, car has dcoe's and all the emissions/evap stuff has been removed.
