Hello.... Do you still have the hub?
Thanks, Dudley

Happy Christmas !

I think the most of us use the expansion tank set up.... because you don't have to cut as much out of the front. That would mean an aluminum scirocco-jetta radiator for about 130.00 plus expansion tank from 30-100 new.

In our prayers for a speedy recovery !

If you still have the sub-frame I may be interested

I agree with you salt is a car killer.......where he/we are in the world the winter starts on Halloween and ends in April. So that being said I just don't want to discourage anyone from our passion. And yes my car is my daily driver thru snow, rain, dirt but it gets washed once a week. I bought it to drive it not to look at it.
Happy Motoring

Yes this, if the car has been in the mead for years and it's not rusted to the bone undercoat it clean it once a week at the local car wash and drive it !
-
Meadville I know it well they got about 170 inches of snow last winter. To answer your question these car are very straight forward to work on and to find parts. If this car isn't rusted out offer 2200 to 2500 dollars, with the money you save have it undercoated buy a set of good snow tires and fix up the heater box with a new fan and heater core. I'm in that area all winter long and some of the stuff I see on the road in the worst of winter a well running 02 will have no problem. Lastly once a week in the winter take it to the self service car wash and spray the wheel wells and the underside for a 1.25

Sweet !!!

The 32/36 carb has two idle jets try unscrewing both of them and cleaning them with carb cleaner, if they are dirty your car won't idle and backfire.

If the new externals didn't help I would guess that the fork that move the gear in the trans is the culprit. Maybe time for trans overhaul
-
I would check the trigger and sprocket and make sure everything is still in place ie sensor wires or maybe broken teeth from sprocket or jb weld failure.

Welcome back Harry !
Nice Car !
Great seeing you at The Vintage !

Ok.... I'll chime in. The master cylinder has a specific gasket that sits between the booster and the master cylinder if you have the wrong one you will get these symptoms.
Ps.....the gasket is round but has square shoulders.

If you have a vice or know someone that has a vice to hold the driveshaft that would help.

Ditto !

Body work is an art form and with your efforts that makes you an Artist !

To remove the 24mm nut on the driveshaft..... You need a 24mm boxed end wrench with a thin profile to be able get on the nut.....bend the driveshaft at the ujoint for access to the nut. Also when you get the nut off make a mark on each side of the driveshaft to reassemble in the same position when you put it back together. Make sure that when you install the center bearing you push it all the way forward and then tighten the nuts this will help with vibrations. This is also known as pre loading.

I think the point missed is that the roof of a 40yr old car didn't cave in and kill that kid.
