  1. Thanks. I'm planning to do the alternator upgrade this week. I've purchased a reman from BNR on Ebay that puts out 82 amps and has the internal voltage regulator. Adds juice and cleans up the bay a bit.
  2. Is it the same part number for each of the three relays? Mine are disgusting looking and I'd like to replace all of them at the same time

  4. In a month or so I'll be ready to bring my 74 to a paint shop for a complete repaint. I'm working on tear down plus minor rust repair at the moment. When I bring it in, I'll need some holes patched, such as front bumper pass throughs in front clip, maybe side marker delete, and perhaps some minor floor pan repair (haven't looked under carpet yet). Does anyone know of a reputable shop in the San Diego area?

  6. racetep sells them, I assume they could tell you how to install them. Isn't the only difference shortened steel bars protruding from the frame?
  7. I just did the 5 speed conversion and the diff is recently replaced (Reman). What sort of upgrade to the driveline would be needed for the stroker set up?
  8. The engine runs real strong ... for the moment. It takes a minute or two from a cold start for the oil pressure to build up to the point where the dash light stops flickering. My mechanic tells me this is indicative of bearing wear and that sometimes engines will run their strongest under these circumstances just before they sign off. I'm looking at $4,800 to remove, rebuild and reinstall. So to me if $7k can get me something a bit stronger in as "like new" condition, I would consider that a modest increase in $ for improved perfromance. So I'm thinking ... should I buy a wrecked Tii and have that engine rebuilt? Should I just upgrade the existing engine / components (cam, headers etc) to achieve just a modest 10 more horses over stock)?
  9. I've been informed that the engine in my newly acquired 74 '02 will need to be rebuilt some time soon. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what an appropriate price range might be for a complete rebuild? Would it make sense to consider other engine swaps for improved performance and reliability for only modest increase in cost? I am fortunate to be in the San Diego area and am aware that there are some pretty experienced 02 mechanics available to me.
