  1. Thanks. These are separate cars and both mine. Guess I have a thing for the color. The street car was changed from Sahara to Colorado about 10 years ago when it had a rust bubble repair turn into a 2 year restoration. I deleted the marker lights, used bumper mounts from a '72, Euro turn signals and '73 tii steelies (that were really hard to find). I'm happy with how it came out. The race car's been a race car since 1980 (originally in Colorado, coincidentally) and I've had it since 2002. The last owner was a lady racer out of upstate New York. I've raced it in the Northwest and N. California since then, but am considering taking it back to street legal over the winter. Looking into ideas there, as it hasn't been licenced for the road in a LONG time. I liked the shot with the moon in the background on the '73. I'll attach another pic to show the car more clearly. I'm in Victoria, BC.
  2. Hi I'm planning a trip from Vancouver, Canada, to the Monterey Historics this August 14-16. A big part of the plan is taking my '73 down the coast with my 6 year old son. We're really looking forward to the journey as well as the destination. We have our hotel booked for the race weekend, but am looking for advice on a number of things, all appreciated: - are there any BMW or '02 clubs that get together at the event? I read on montereyhistoric.com that there's some kind of special entry (or parking) for clubs of 35 or more. - are there any annual '02 events around then that I should try to attend? - lastly, does anyone have any tips on stops along the way, routes to take or how to keep a 6 year old happy on a road trip? thanks Ardee
  3. Hi Jeff have fun. We're taking the family down for SOVREN races in seattle this weekend also. We raced at Portland on Labour Day weekend. It's a fun track, and has some nice high speed corners. In my car with stock 4 spd and 4.11 rear end, turns 4-7 (assuming the festival curves are being used) are all carried in 3rd gear. We had some great races amongst the BMWs, but there aren't nearly as many passing opportunities as in seattle or mission. Of all things, we got held up by a 1969 Dino 246 for 10+ laps. With nearly stock motors we ran 1:47's. You'll likely be in the mid to high 1:30's. One of the best parts of PIR is the location - right off the I5, near hotels, restaurants and downtown. Good luck Ron
