Purchased new by my father, Lee Hoovler, in April 1971 from Universal Motor Sales, Butler, Pa. The original door sticker indicates month of manufacture of Dec. 1970, but the BMW Archives report a build date of Nov. 30--the factory must have run out of November stickers a day early.
It was sold to Roy Hopkins, a former student of my dad's, in 1984. It attended a few track days during Roy's ownership.
My dad bought it back in 1997, and gave it to me in 2002, a few months before he passed away. I have been its caretaker since.
The car has a 5-speed conversion; H&R springs and Bilstein HDs, 22mm front and 19mm rear sway bars, 2000CS 14" wheels and a 123Tune distributor. I have replaced rubber bits and other wear parts as needed. It had a partial repaint in 2002 following a rear-end collision. Otherwise, the car is essentially stock and original at 151,000 miles as of 2018.
