  1. Quick question here - is the door brake also responsible for the door not staying OPEN? My drivers side is continuingly closing on me (the passenger does not). I know the brake is there to prevent the door opening all the way, but does it also act to stay somewhat open? Thanks.
  2. Not wanting to rehash any previous posts (i did do a quick search).... I have a set original sliders. They were in rough shape, but managed to get them moving. Still crunchy...but passable. One however was having none of it and as I tried to free it from its solid state, decided to jettison the roller and a few of the ball bearings. Now this is the slide that is not the "tooth" side. I did see a write up from a use that rehabbed a "toothed" slider, but I can't figure our for the life of me how i am going to get the ball bearings back in. I struggled for a while then gave up. Anyone have any insight. Then... Which led me to the thought - is there not a universal slider that i can use instead? Has anyone installed something like this below? Anyone use anything like this? 3. So i removed both from the car, and i think i messed up the turn signal one with my ham handedness. I got it open not realizing that, of course, there may be small parts ready to fly everywhere.. The wiper one, i think , is also done. What I'm trying to say, is I think i just need two "new" ones. I have found someone who is selling a set out of a 77 E21. These are the round stalks that look remarkably similar and they have the same rectangular (not square as in the E21) connectors. Could I use these instead? the price is reasonable.
  4. Mine isn't a roundie - it's a 74. I'll try and get some pics of the mess See attached images. The wiper/washer has already been opened. See missing contacts (?) The other is the turn signal.

  6. As I begin to take stock of everything, i noticed that my turn signal and washer/wiper stalks are not working (which would be a general overstatement as they are both broken). The turn indicator stalk has been removed from the housing (i think the pin was snapped) and the washer/wiper switch has been opened (and i think the contacts on the actual stalk have been lost). Is it easier to just replace with like items or fiddle with a repair. If repair, what is the best way? Any pics on what the contacts for the washer stalk are supposed to look like? Thanks
  7. Rich - do you still have this? I'll PM you
  8. Hi Rick - so just call up the dealer and give them the year and VIN? I hadn't thought of that. I'm a land rover guy and every time i called up for a part for a Series LR, i always got "we don't have anything for anything that old" update - no BMW can see this glass- "discontinued"...
  9. Thanks. I will keep this in mind. As i'm in Canada it's apparently difficult for glass shops to get their ordering together for such an older glass (or they just don't want to help me with supply only). Anyone deal with an outfit that will ship (i can collect from WA if need be) Cheers.
  10. Thanks. I'll take this to my auto glass shop here and see what they can get.
  11. I've done a search and there have been several posts - but they are not current. Anyone have a source/part number for the front glass? Best place to get/ship from? Is this something that is still dealer orderable? TIA
  12. Hi - new here and trying to move my project along. Was told this was a good place to start. Looking for a long console in relatively good condition. Complete if possible - radio not required at this point. Ashtray and buttons would be nice. For a 75 or that era. Could also consider a short console. Thank you!
