it doesn't matter what kind of flares you

have, installation is pretty similar for all of them.

Heh. Turbo flares and pig cheeks flares have similar installation? Not really. Box flares? Yeah. So actually it does matter. For pig cheeks you’re cutting a significant amount of the rear more than you would for a turbo flare.

PigCheeks, check your inbox. I sent you a guide for installation.

  2. Aloha,

Title says it all! Looking to purchase front and rear door cards in either blue or black.

Would prefer it to be in pretty good condition but I'll consider all offers I happen to get!

PM me for my phone number and we'll go from there!

How do I make article ?

Top left hand corner there's an "Article" tab (Next to Forums) You can hover over the tab and you'll see "Technical Articles" click that and a drop down menu will appear. From there you'll click on "Body and Interior" and at the bottom of that page they'll be an "Add new article" button in blue on the bottom right hand corner.

  4. There are many ways to go about doing this. If it isn't going anywhere anytime soon then I would strip the whole roof to bare metal then epoxy primer over it. However, if you're going to strip the whole roof you might as well strip the whole car because if the roof is rusting you may find little surprises under the paint that haven't really surfaced yet.

So, yes, there was an optional (dealer accessory) headrest in the days before headrests became standard. And, yes, you purchased these headrests singly, not in pairs. And yes, Mercedes-Benz and other European manufacturers offered similar single headrests during the ‘60’s. And, yes, the BMW OEM headrest was illustrated in a December 1968 French-market dealer accessories brochure.

Unfortunately, the source I used to access a copy of this brochure — a thread on the U.K. 2002 forum — has become de-linked from photobucket.

Seeing a headrest (in the trunk of an eBay car) similar to the headrest in the current thread’s original post, I questioned in this earlier U.K. forum thread whether it might be a BMW OEM version. Other members convinced me quickly that it was a generic headrest, quite common in the European and British markets, but absolutely period-appropriate to the late 1960’s.

So I’m saying this headrest is of the period but not BMW OEM.

    Regards,

    Steve

Cool to know! Whoever made the one I currently have did an excellent job to match the seat color and vertical lines!

  6. Hello everyone,

I acquired a 1968 02 about a year ago from an elderly woman that came with corbeau racing seats. The PO called me the other day and said she was cleaning out her garage and while doing so she stumbled upon the original seats. She said I was more than welcome to pick them up and so I did. The seats appeared to be in very good shape and she said her husband had swapped them out for the corbeau racing seats very early into ownership of their 02. Now what interested me was a detachable headrest she handed me after I had loaded the seats into my car. She said from what she remembers it came with the 02 and it even matches the color of the seats perfectly. She mentioned it only came with one so if either of them were driving solo the driver would use it and whenever her husband drove with her in it he would attach it to her seat. Why it never came with two? I don't know. I've attached pictures! Has anyone seen this before? Whether it's original or not I think it's pretty neat!

Is it a ‘K’ or a mangled ‘R’? Right and left?

The 151 number designates what spec the carb is (in terms of progression drilling etc)

    It could be a mangled 'R' but I'm sure it's a 'K'? I don't know.. Hah. -Shrugs-

  8. Hey everyone,

The 1968 02 I've acquired came with twin weber 40's. I've attached two pictures and you'll see on one carb it says '5K' and the other it says '5L' does anyone happen to know what this code/number means? I've seen other twin weber 40's and in that same exact spot they have a 5+ digit number instead. Are these carbs an older production? A newer production? I'm going to clean them up and rebuild them. What would be the best route to do so? Any tips?

    Appreciate the feedback!
