This thread might help you out a bit. https://www.bmw2002faq.com/forums/topic/236333-center-grille-question/?page=2&tab=comments#comment-1315701

You could look into https://www.simscale.com/. Never used it but it was advertised a bit when I was in college. They offered a lot of demos-- some that were presented live for questions.

Do you think these could be imported into an aerodynamic analysis software like open foam or other free software packages?
You probably could but you would need them as shell or solid models. Been a few years since I've dabbled with STAR-CCM+ but can remember the struggles of simplifying overly complicated parts. As long you can open it in a CAD software, then you should be able to convert it as needed.

I was thinking of getting these for my 4runner because they've got the latest LED tech. You can find some reviews on YouTube if you're interested. I will say they're not cheap but they're an easy plug and play.

Check out this site. You're going to love it.

300,000 polygons...good model detail. Looks like they favor Autodesk platforms, Max/Maya, but they do offer STL files.
This looks perfect! The amount of detail seems almost as if it were meant for a racing simulator. I'm curious if it's the same one featured by Petrolicious a couple of years ago.

Thanks for the link Simeon!

I think that your best bet is to do it yourself. Depending if you live in a town with a movie industry, you should be able to rent a 3d modeller. In addition I am pretty sure you could find someone close that would help out in the car department.
If you want to make stuff for a BMW 2002, all you need to think of is NLA (No Longer Available) parts. This means only one thing, small batches of special high-quality parts with attention to finish.
If you are looking for body models, spoiler kits and all that jazz... that is another thing altogether. Because 2002's are getting so pricy, I expect the ones that are doing up a 02 to look like a race car(or be a race car), often have stuff custom fabricated to their taste or go with Jeff's stuff or others that have molded panels or body accessories.
I could go on and on, but you get the idea. If you want a specific answer to a particular question regarding if you should build something, reach out through a private message.
The nice thing about this forum is that the people aren't dicks. I doubt anyone will steal your idea, as it is not in our best interest not to squash innovation in the 2002 community.
Regards
Dudeland, it's less about spending money to get someone to do it for me but more about just designing custom parts to my taste. I have modeled in NX over the last couple of years and was curious to see if anyone else had thought about doing the same and had beaten me to going down that route. It's much easier to start from a baseline design than to start from scratch.

Is anyone aware of existing 1:1 scaled models of 02s (e.g. nose, fenders, dash, etc.)? I'd like to start modeling some parts on the side to prototype.
Any constructive input is appreciated.

Beautiful looking car! Which wheels are those? They look great.
Thanks Nicoya! I'm not too sure on the specs of the wheels but another user told me BMW, Opel, and VW at one point partnered to make wheels. Just got new Pirelli CN36s and the trackwidth looks a little too wide which is probably due to the wheel offset.

Could try to get in touch with the person who took this picture. Looks very similar to the one you posted and a lttle different than the one sold at IE (http://www.iemotorsport.com/bmw/item/02alpinaairdam.html).

Always hated when companies mention a down force value with no mention of speed at said downforce. It's all theoretical until they can actually validate it.
