  1. A correction to my post in regard to my Voltage regulator that is getting very hot! When I said in my second to last sentence that my. “Alternator still becomes hot, I meant to say that my “voltage regulato”r still becomes hot ...sorry. Please note that it is recommended that one of the basic electrical tests that should be run is to do both a “resting voltage” test on the battery charge when the engine is not running and then a test when the car is running... both are within proper range as noted above with no problem with my headlights. If a “hot” voltage regulator is not normal, accompanied by a battery that shows signs of heating-up and bubbling over, do I have a bad voltage regulator, or she should I be looking elsewhere? Thx for any input! Mike
  2. I have a stock voltage regulator on my 1970 '02 and i noticed that it was hot on the bottom portion to touch...130-140 degrees and at the same time had been noticing some moisture on top of my battery around the caps over the last couple of days....not normal! I have a friend who's voltage regulator malfunctioned and his battery caps actually popped off and sprayed water/acid in his engine compartment....boiling? Is it normal for a voltage regulator to get hot? My battery voltage tests at 12.5V + and when running tests at 13.8V which appears to be in the proper V range at 1200 RPM's with the lights and fan on. I did have a broken ground wire from my alternator to my engine block...just hanging there, and replaced it, but the alternator still becomes quite hot after a couple of minutes....any thoughts?? If the voltage regulator needs replacing, is an electronic version a suitable replacement? Thanks
